Malaysia Airports Holdings  said Friday it plans to raise spending to maintain and upgrade some of its overcrowded terminals even as passenger traffic growth could moderate in 2018. Expenditure could rise about 30% annually over next 3-yrs, MD Badlisham Ghazali said. The company will expand capacity of KL International Airport and other select terminals to capture traffic growth. " 2018 will be focused on ramping up the initiatives around airside connectivity development at KUL (Kuala Lumpur) and our regional airports," said Badlisham. " This will be primary driver for attracting more airlines to our airports and building out our routes." At KLIA, passenger traffic has exceeded the terminal' s designed capacity by more than 2%, while other airports, such as the Subang Airport, are grappling with over 200% utilization. Malaysia Airports also operates klia2, base of  AirAsia, the region' s largest budget airline by fleet. Passenger traffic could increase 6.3% this year, decelerating from 2017' s 8.5% growth as more foreign carriers fly direct into other parts of the country, Badlisham said. International passenger growth is expected to be 8.3% this year with China, India and Southeast Asia accounting for 75% of foreign passenger arrivals. In 2018, domestic traffic is estimated to rise 4.3%, largely driven by stable economic growth, he said. |

Ex-Primier. Dr Mahatir have to returned two awards received from Selangor palace, in an escalating tiff between the senior politician and the ruler. Selangor' s Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah has been unhappy with remarks made by Tun Dr Mahathir, labelling the Bugis people as " pirates" , when he was attacking Prime Minister Najib Razak. He reportedly said: " Maybe he (Mr Najib) can trace his ancestry to Bugis pirates. Somehow, he lost his way and came to Malaysia. Go home to Bugis." This is b' cos the Selangor ruler' s family also has Bugis roots. Dr M got Indian root, n has forgotten where he came from. A reminded.  Go home to India.

JOHOR BARU: Around 1.8 mil residents in JB have been affected by a major water supply disruption, after operations at three water treatment plants were stopped due to high ammonia levels found in their raw water from the Johor River,.
Operations were halted at the Semangar, Johor River and Tai Hong plants on Saturday. Residents in three districts - Johor Baru, Kulai and Kota Tinggi - have been affected and the shutdown may last for up to two days, it added. Ammonia levels of 2.75 parts per million were recorded in the raw water last Friday night and that levels had not gone down as of Saturday afternoon. The permitted ammonia level is 1.5 parts per million according to the Star Online. It is not the first time high levels of ammonia have disrupted water supply. We have recorded three major incidents this year alone." Read more at http://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/asiapacific/operations-halted-at-3-johor-water-treatment-plants-due-to-high-9353546 |

In Aug-2013. Malindo began serving Dhaka with one daily flight and has consistently added capacity.
Malindo now serves KL-Dhaka with 3-daily 737-800 flights, generating 3,402 weekly one way seats. Malindo mkt share of 29%. KL-Dhaka seat capacity, compared to 23% Bangladesh, 19% for MAS airlines, 11% for AirAsia, 9% for Bangladesh?s Regent Airways and 9% for US Bangla Airlines. All three Bangladesh based airlines and MAS Airlines also operate two class 737NGs on the KL-Dhaka route, whereas AirAsia uses single class A320s. KL-Dhaka one way weekly seat capacity by airline: Sep-2011 to Nov-2017 Source: CAPA ? Centre for Aviation & OAG Switching from the 737-800 to 737 MAX 8 will enable Malindo to increase capacity on each Dhaka flight by 11% while reducing trip costs as a result of the significant reduction in fuel burn. This should enable Malindo to compete more effectively in an extremely competitive price sensitive mkt now served by six airlines, resulting in an improved financial performance. AirAsia and Malindo fares on KL-Dhaka start at slightly more than USD200 return including taxes. MAS Airlines and the three Bangladeshi carriers also offer return fares starting at less than USD300. Malindo generally offers the best value, given that it often has the lowest fare among the full service competitors, and also sometimes undercuts AirAsia. Malindo offers 35kg of checked bags on this route (more than any other airline), food, and drinks. However with such low fares and a roomy full service product this route may not be profitable. With the 737 MAX 8, Malindo will reduce its unit costs on the route, potentially enabling it to turn a profit, even with the very low fares it needs to offer to fill up the more than 3,000 one way seats it now has in this highly competitive market. Malindo could retain a business class product on some Dhaka flights. |

Malindo Air - new all economy 737 MAX fleet results in more direct competition with AirAsia
Malaysia?s Malindo Air will be able to compete better against AirAsia and other LCCs as the Lion Group affiliate starts to deploy its new fleet of Boeing 737. Malindo plans to take four 737 MAX 8s by the end of Jun-2017 and use the new type on routes of three to seven hours to South Asia and China. Most of Malindo?s 737 routes are highly competitive and are served by rival AirAsia. The new aircraft, with its dense all economy configuration and improved fuel efficiency, should enable Malindo to reduce its already low unit costs significantly, resulting in improved profitability in several markets. This is the 2nd-half of a two part analysis report on Malindo and its new fleet of 737 aircraft. The 1st-half focused on Malindo?s emergence with its decision to use all economy aircraft and a 31in pitch without IFE, in contrast to its two class aircraft with 32in pitch and IFE on its existing 737-800/900ER fleet. In this half of the report CAPA will examine in detail how the 737 new plane fits into Malindo network on its performance on several medium haul routes against AirAsia. Malindo's network consists of 50 routes Malindo operates nearly 50 routes across a network of 33 international and 13 domestic destinations (based on OAG schedules for the week commencing 17-May-2017). |

M'sia Prime Minister Najib Razak?s puzzling announcements in his meeting with US President Donald Trump was that M'sia would spend US$10 billion, or a massive RM43 billion, purchasing passenger aircraft from US? Boeing.
Flanked by top advisers in the Cabinet Room, Najib told Trump that Malaysia Airlines would buy 25 Boeing 737 jets and eight 787 Dreamliners, and would probably add another 25 737s in the near future ? a deal he said would be worth more than US$10 billion within five years. These came as a bolt from the blue as the purchase of the eight 787s is something which Malaysia Airlines Bhd, the government?s wholly-owned airline through Khazanah Nasional Bhd, has not announced before while the airline is actually in the process of cutting down on its narrow-bodied 737 fleet. teeth53 thot - Some older plane maybe pass on to Malindo Air. Push-Pocket in KL / KLIA n/or in any airport I am sure you all have heard of ' pick pocket' .  A new trend ' push pocket' .  Read on.. for your own good.  A new type of crime has surfaced in town. It goes something like this:-  Somebody slips a hand-phone into your pocket,  n/or trolley bag, it could be just a wallet with  an identity card and a few dollars. A few minutes later, the ' owner' comes up  and confronts you, as ' thief ' .  He will makes a big commotion that you stole his stuff.  You, caught unaware, are then pulled aside by the ' owner' for a settlement. You are intimidated and threatened that if you do not pay up the police will be brought in.  If you pay up, this ' owner' lets you go.   If not, the police are brought in.  Strange thing is that there always seems to be a ' witness' to your ' theft' .  This often happens to foreigners at  KL International Airport (KLIA) or even at LRT trains.  Given that you' re ' guilty until proven innocent' as far as the Malaysian police are concerned, Iunderstand some poor people are in jail for these ' offences' .  At the KLIA, the ' owner' throws his hand-phone and  wallet with the few ringgit notes into the luggage trolley of a just arrived passenger.  The drama unfolds a few minutes later.  The real culprit has easily convinced our Malaysian police  to arrest the real victim (if he\she has not paid up ' settlement' demand).  This is a very serious matter.  Is Extortionists operating in broad daylight.  Disgusting criminals who will do anything to rob and steal. The sickening part of the whole scenario is that unless you pay up, ' quoted settlement' money, they will put U in real trouble by calling police.  The real culprit gets back his hand-phone and wallet but the real victim ( i.e.. could be any one of us) is thrown into the police lock up and charged in court.  Be extra careful, or otherwise may end up as ' thief' .  There' s no way to prove your innocence. Pass it on, if it is useful, let more people be aware of such things around. |

HE SEE NO WRONG AS BEEN M'SIA PRIME MINISTRY AT THAT POINT IN TIME.
Dr M says he has accepted that he see no wrong as formal inquiry into a multibillion-dollar foreign exchange scandal involving the central bank in the 1990s. Now the leader of opposition party Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM), the 92-year-old described the setting up of the royal commission of inquiry as a witch hunt by the ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) to create reasons to incarcerate reported the New Straits Times (NST). "This was an issue that had been studied, researched and debated in Parliament at the time and it was found that there was no wrongdoing on the part of the prime minister at the time, which was me," he said on Sunday, at the PPBM Hari Raya Open House in Melaka. Dr M said the inquiry and other similar acts by the BN govt showed an aggressive move to derail opposition leaders, it will ease their task of winning the general elections," "But this will not work because the tide of the people against the government does not depend solely on the opposition leaders. The parties themselves are strong enough to win the elections." |

Due to greed for power and for his son stake. Dr M din not see eye to eye on Anwar. Why now he decide to do so.?.  His day is number?. http://www.todayonline.com/world/asia/mahathir-says-would-back-old-foe-anwar-prime-minister Anwar was once a protege of the veteran prime minister, Dr Mahathir, and the rising star of Malaysian politics, but they fell out in the late 1990s. Soon afterwards, Anwar was jailed for the first time on charges of sodomy and graft, after being sacked as the deputy prime minister. He denied the charges, dismissing them as politically motivated. He was convicted and jailed in 2013, when Mr Najib was prime minister, for another sodomy charge, which he and his supporters described as a politically motivated attempt to end his career. But after their years of animosity, opposition to Prime Minister Najib is drawing Anwar and Dr Mahathir back together. Last year, Anwar endorsed a political agreement, spearheaded by Dr M. He fail badly. |

Dr M, a spend force, now wanted Anwar as backup M' sia Prime Ministry.  Dr Mahathir is seeking to release jailed opposition leader, once bitter foe, Anwar Ibrahim, and would have no objection to him being premier, the Guardian. In an interview with Guardian in London, Dr M said Anwar should be released from jail, where he is serving a five-year sentence for sodomy, and allowed to contest elections as he was a victim of a political vendetta. Anwar is seen as the greatest threat to Prime Minister Najib Razak and his coalition, after leading a three-party opposition alliance to stunning electoral gains in 2013. teeth53 thot - Dr M and all his kakis are now been fool hardy been used as spend force by the man himself. COMMENT | The people surrounding Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, including Ong Ka Ting, the Special Envoy of Malaysia, like to insist that they know China. Plain and simple: they don't. If they ever did, the knowledge is gained from Robert Kuok of the Shangri-La Group. Kuok is unique in the claim that he knows China for he is based in Hong Kong and is closely connected to President Xi Jinping. But the moment people like Ong Ka Ting and Ong Ka Chuan claim to whisper into the ear of the prime minister that they, too, know China, things begin to go horribly wrong. Take Wanda Grp, for eg. Wang Jianlin. The chairman and CEO of Wanda Grp - was supposed to presided over the largest land development in China. True. But, so?, Wanda also trying to go cloud computing, to cinema and to property, sensing that, why would Wanda Grp want to work with M'sia on Bandar M'sia when this is still a hole-in-the-ground project with merely some basic structures built over it, with no blueprint as yet from Malaysia? If anything, it is the Ministry of Finance that wants to see the blueprint of Wanda Grp. Now, given the tendency of Umno and Barisan Nasional to misuse public funds, as occasioned by 1MDB and Felda, why should Wanda believe that any major plans it submits will not be stolen by Putrajaya to increase the value of the land, so that M'sia can do another parallel deal to hype up the prices of the land? Well, that's precisely what 1MDB did with Iskandar Water Front. It took its plan of building a cavernous mall in Bandar M'sia, assume that the high-speed railway project would be built on it, only to argue that Lim Kang Hoo of Iskandar Water Front could not afford the payment. True or not, the act of betraying what had been agreed with Iskandar Water Front and China Railway Engineering Conglomerate, can only leave a bitter taste in Beijing - Najib and his kakis are out to hustle to get prices of Bandar Malaysia going ever upward. But there is also another sign that Najib is out of his depth on China. It has been well known that Wanda is not necessarily close to Xi. If he were, the shares of Wanda Group would not be taking a serious tumble over the last few wks in China and HK. Surely, Wanda Grp is in trouble,. It Tun Razak Exch Sq is without an anchor tenant, except for US$250 mil that has been pledged by Hong Kong and Shanghai Bank (HSBC). Other pledges from Indonesia had failed, too. So, it makes one wonder why the pledge from HK can make things any more sure? Next on the list is Ali Baba Grp. Champion by Jack Ma. But he only has 16% of the shares in the coy. Masayoshi Son of Softbank Japan has some 34% alone. Wouldn't it be more appropriate to engage Son rather than Ma? Or at least a parallel engagement? Again this shows the shallow understanding of the PM of China, both of Wanda and Ali Baba. If they could develop Bandar Malaysia, they would have done it with or without more Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). Yet, this is precisely what Najib got when he went to Beijing. |

EXCLUSIVE: JOHOR BARU: A consignment of high-tech military radar equipment worth millions of ringgit has gone missing from the Port of Tanjung Pelepas here.
Agencies including Customs Department and International Trade and Industry Ministry (Miti) are investigating the disappearance. Nusajaya OCPD Asst Comm Nor Hashim Mohamad confirmed that a police report on the matter was received. Meanwhile, Customs Department assistant director-general (enforcement) Datuk Paddy Abd Halim said an internal investigation was being carried out as well. Sources said Customs officials detained the radar systems shortly after the consignment arrived from Australia last month. The items, in one container, were supposed to be shipped to the Netherlands via Johor but did not have the necessary permits, which led to the unexpected detention. All military equipment being shipped out of, or in transit at any Malaysian port, requires a special permit from Miti. No such permit or other supporting documents were produced when requested by port and Customs officials, a source said. It is learnt that during a recent audit check, the classified material could not be located at the port and a police report was then lodged. The authorities have not ruled out the possibility that the consignment could have been loaded onto another vessel and shipped off to the Netherlands discreetly to avoid further problems. The sources added that it was not easy for the equipment to be removed by ground transport because of strict checks at the entry and exit points of the port. It is learnt that Customs has set up a special team to probe the matter internally and determine if standard operating procedures were followed. The sources said that such sensitive equipment requires a permit under the Strategic Trade Act 2010. The penalties are heavy as fines can be as high as RM10mil, while those convicted can also face the death penalty, the sources added. The permits were issued from Miti?s strategic trade secretariat in Kuala Lumpur, the sources said, adding that the paperwork for such a permit could be filled online and it takes five working days for the permit to be issued. The Act, which is over 1,237 pages long in English and Bahasa Malaysia, is on the Miti website and covers a broad range of sensitive goods and items to control or prevent them from being used in nuclear armament and weapons of mass destruction, especially if they fall into the hands of extremists. |

Why create tit for tat?   Be good neighbours.   One day we may need water and other facilities from Malaysia.   For example if the Melaka port is operational, we might even have to go Malaysia to collect our veggies and other M' sian imports, instead of waiting for delivery to Singapore because they might ask us to collect on our own.. Then we have to send our own trucks up to Malacca.
