You are right. I guess should be less than 20k. I had 1155 lots, some were  bought at $0.94 but the bulk were bought at  $0.935. I sold 555 lots at $0.965  a few  weeks  ago and 600 lots at $0.955 today. Anyway, the decision is sell is not to take profit. I am concerned about the Ukrainian Crsis. I think there is a high chance that Russia will invade Ukraine although I hope that it will not.

Hi Lucky - My expectation for NOL over the longer term is $3.00- 4.00. I know when this is posted out, it is going to attract a lot of discussion. Let there be one. I think I am the most optimistic of the lot in the forum. I have been a passive forumer over the last few months. Let time be the judge. Regards AKK

Hi, Angkukueh. Welcome :) Hope you won't find my postings overwhelming ! I started accumulating 1 yr ago and hence my ave price should be nearer $1. I'll hold till much higher than your able price :) I believe it can cross $1.38 within 6 mths if Q3 and Q4 prove it turn around and the global economy and trade growth remains positive.

Hi All I am new here. I have been a NOL follower for a long long  time. This is a cyclical stock and the share prices oscillate depending on whether the industry cycle is. I have been accumulating this stock now for the last  1.5 years. My average price is $1.14. Still in the red. Good luck to all the share holders of this stock. My opinion stay the course and you will be rewarded. Regards AKK |

Yep I still have a small position. I don' t like to value company based on NAV. profitability and dividend is the ultimate measure.

I threw some to 0.955 to check out buyers. Saw quite a few take up from MACQUR and CSFB. CSFB is in the usual business of picking up single lot just like what it did together with UBS when they were trading single lot in quick succession of a min apart last few days but they were throwing to the buyers then. Wonder if that could be a trading strategy to press the price down and to lure in sellers to the q to build up the quantity do them to mop up.

Btw, I have sold my stake in NOL. However, this is not because I am pessimistic about the shipping industry. Rather, it is due  to geo-political factors. NOL will turn the corner soon. |

A loss making company is still worth something unless the NAV is zero. Do you have a position on NOL?

Thanks. Ya I registered to post this on NOL. I' m interested in this company due to some personal reason. Have to say I' m disappointed by the Q2 result. They better turn around quick, as a loss making company is virtually worth nothing. Now the shipping environment is improving but still more loss than Q1.

I  think so too. He seems to be very interested in NOL as he devoted his  first post to the stock.

I don' t love stocks. I invest in stocks. Indeed, the result is poor, although there is some improvement. But the price holds steady depsite the poor result which seems to suggest that the current price is right. Btw, notice that this is your first post. welcome

If the assessment is accurate, it will be very positive news !
Container trades could achieve balance in two years By Jim Hanscom from Washington DC Present global container traffic trends offer some hope that the industry could achieve a sense of balance two years out, dependent on further quiet in vessel ordering. The first half was spotty, thereby consistent with economic trends, but delivered growth of 4.9% overall, according to Container Statistics. June was clocked at a relatively upbeat rate of 7.3%. Because of the slack in the system, the growth did little for rate levels, which continued to drag along the bottom, achieving 85% of the January 2013 index. For the container owners, the location of the traffic was as important as the teu totals, because of the disparity in the length of haul among the various trade lanes. The impact was magnified by the reshaping of the industry?s vessel sizes to accommodate new deliveries of ultra large ships dedicated to the key long-haul Asia-Europe trade. On this score, the news was moderate. Overall, Asian container exports increased 10% in June, nearly twice the pace of the first half. Imports were up 10.6%. However, European exports fell slightly in June and averaged 4% growth for the first half. Imports, the heavy leg of the trade from Asia, increased nearly 7% for June and 6.5% for the half. North America, which struggled through an extended winter, showed an increase in exports of 4.3% in June, while imports were up 3.8%. Later numbers reported by the Intermodal Association of North America showed solid growth in July, with international container movements increasing 9.6%. Compared to Europe-Asia, the North American trade is key to absorbing less-than-ultra sized ships that are being cascaded as the larger vessels are delivered. This would presumably become more critical once the Panama Canal expansion is completed in early 2016, raising the effective limit from 4,500 teu to 12,500 teu. Among the smaller trades, the largest growth contributor was India Subcontinent and Middle East. Exports were up 17.9% in June and 12.4% for the half. Imports were up 11.7% in June and 5% for the half. Results for other trades were somewhat sluggish, with South American volumes actually down 4.7% in June and imports up 1.9%. As to future ordering, the industry has remained largely on hold, however, there are reports that Scorpio, after building up very large orderbooks in the bulker and tanker sectors has taken its first plunge into boxships with an order for ultra-large containerships. The rest of the industry is perhaps awaiting the views of Chinese authorities on the attempt by the two industry leaders, Maersk Line and Mediterranean Shipping Co (MSC), to pair up their capacity in the 2M alliance. An earlier attempt as the P3 network to include a third carrier, CMA CGM, failed to win approval. My dear friend, there is risk everywhere. We are in the stock market and not the supermarket. Anyway, I am going to the supermarket to get some potato chips  later  although there is some real  risk they may be sold out. Despite your so-called ' disappointing' Q2 result, by how much has the share price fallen? Where is the huge downside? I know I know! Never forget the 1.2 billion unsecured loan, 800million in 12 month, 400mil in 24 months. Right? Although the high debt level of NOL  is undesirable, I seriously doubt many bros here believe that  it is as bad as the way you portray it. Carson Block thinks that the high debt level of Olam International will cause it to collapse and hence  gives it a target price of $0.00. Do you believe him?

Well said! I could not agree more with you. Samung which dominates the market today may not necessarily dominate it tomorrow. However, it follows  that NOL which made  losses yesterday  may not necessarily make losses tomorrow.
