x 0   x 0  Alert Admin	im just finding strange that u support mermaid and possibly i may miss out something interesting cos normally im quite in line with u on the fundamental aspect.. just sharing my own observations/experience only, and i may not be right, cos afterall  stock market is dynamic and  is never the same..  i cant say for Hi-p cos they had anticipated a lower 2019 vs 2018.. currently, now we cannot tell how hi-p is going to perform down in 2020 and beyond, unless analysts or hi-p come out with more information for our analysis.. of cos now the electronics sentiment seems more upbeat and it had caused stocks like UMS shooting way ahead of their reported fundamentals.. if based on current results, hi-p should not catch up with AEM rationally, and hi-p need to improve their profits if they are going to command higher share price like AEM.. i was actually negative on AEM in the past (end 2018 to early 2019)  due to their anticipated lower order in full year 2019, but somehow they prove the analyst wrong and manage to secure strong orders and is on track to have another record year in 2019.. x 0   x 0  Alert Admin	anyway all this are just my opinion.. it doesnt matter cos at the end of the day it depends on BB push.. as long as our retailers here can make money, that' s all good.. what matters at the end is whether share price goes in favour of u, and not  whatever  fundamentals/technicals etc.. cos 1+1 is not equals to 2 in stock market.. I find counters that is cash rich, 0 debt, low p/e, sustainable uptrend results & giving more than 5% dividend if possible.. quite a few counters that fulfil such conditions  but they are normally ignore by BB since they are not branded names, so no point saying it cos u will get stuck except that u can get good sustainable  dividends lol.. for bank wise, they are actually good counters to invest for higher dividends vs other blue chips, but i did not go for banks cos banks are generally given a valuation of around 10-12 p/e.. not much capital gains and if i want to go for dividends, i can go for reits (but now most reits are  overvalue)  or my cash rich 0 debt counters.. the banks are not that appreciated compare to other blue chips like SIA, ST engineering, SATS  etc, which has much higher p/e ratio and lower dividend.. it' s all about  BB at the end of the day, and ppl do buy branded company names even though they sucks (eg hyflux) Justice888      ( Date: 30-Dec-2019 15:47) Posted: Then u Long which counter ? For the case of mermaid, we do not know if high order book will eventually translate to strong profit.. i had invested in vallianz many years ago due to their increasing order intake & middle east support.. but eventually their profit doesnt increase and couldnt match the expectation due to their willingness to take in high order with low margins, and i cut my losses back then, and it taught me the importance of not just relying on order book figures.. middle east is a bunch of cost cutting scrooge.. u wont be able to make much money working with them.. just look at them at the political side on how cunning they are.. back then in 2014, the saudi refuse to cut oil price due to political reasons between US & russia, and oil price crash.. after that they are able to buy lots of assets/vessels/chartering at a very cheap rate.. when they are done buying cheap assets, they cut oil supply and want to push oil price back up, so that they can list their saudi aramco.

Which is why mermaid is also a prime target for takeover . nqing87      ( Date: 30-Dec-2019 15:24) Posted: mermaid does have physical assets right? assets like their vessels/rigs etc.. i saw many oil/gas counters (ezion, vallianz, swiber, marco polo, POSH, sembcorp etc, just to name a few) doing impairments over the downcycle these few years  for whatever reasons like writing down trade receivables due to customer cannot pay or asset re-valuation or whatever.. Whatever assets those oil/gas counters own, on accounting purpose they may be value as such, but when they want to dispose these assets in bad market condition, they are just mere scraps.. when swiber close shop, the liquidators can only manage to liquidate the vessels at a fraction of the stated book value.. those assets such as their vessels are definitely not based on speculation and are probably amortized gradually & depreciated  from their purchase price over the years.. on accounting purpose, they may have high asset value, but when trying to dispose them desperately  in bad market situation, they are just scraps.. i never believe in NAV of counter to judge if they are undervalue, except for property & reits which are really hard to go down no matter how bad the market is.. just my opinion, but thanks for your sharing bro! im an investor who believe investing based on fundamentals like u do:
