KEEP CALM. KEEP BUYING.  Long term this is a super counter. Tons of free cash flow. They should not have any issue paying out dividends for many years to come. Tremendous opportuntiy for anyone who missed the boat last year.  IF you are a trader then the daily swings matter, but if you are an investor, then just BUY and KEEP.

Trump says he'll be 'very nice' to China in trade talks


President Donald Trump said he plans to be " very nice" to China in any trade talks and that tariffs will drop if the two countries can reach a deal, a sign he may be backing down from his tough stance on Beijing amid market volatility.

" It will come down substantially but it won' t be zero," Trump said Tuesday in Washington, following earlier comments from Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent that the tariff standoff is unsustainable. Trump added that " we' re going to be very nice and they' re going to be very nice, and we' ll see what happens."

Trump also said he didn' t see the need to say he' d " play hardball" with Chinese leader Xi Jinping and that during discussions he wouldn' t raise Covid-19, an issue that is very politically sensitive in Beijing. The White House recently launched a website that suggested the virus came from a lab in China, irking the nation' s diplomats.

Trump' s comments come as US stocks and Treasuries have been battered since he rolled out sweeping tariffs on April 2, later announcing a 90-day reprieve for most nations. The 145% duties Trump placed on China this year remain in place, though he' s made exceptions for computers and popular consumer electronics.

" Trump is panicking due to the markets plummeting and still very high US Treasury yields," said Alicia Garcia Herrero, chief Asia Pacific economist at Natixis. " He needs a deal and quick. China does not need to offer anything big in such circumstances."

China hasn' t officially responded to Trump' s pledge to play " nice" but the media outlet Cailian called it " a sign that Trump is already softening stance on his signature tariff policies."

Beijing indicated earlier this month that it wants to see a number of steps from the Trump administration before agreeing to any discussions, especially reining in disparaging remarks by members of his cabinet.

Other conditions include a more consistent US position and a willingness to address China' s concerns around American sanctions and Taiwan, according to a person familiar with the Chinese government' s thinking, who asked not to be identified.

Beijing also wants the US to appoint a point person for talks who has the president' s support and can help prepare a deal that Trump Xi can sign when they meet, the person said.

Beijing had earlier expressed displeasure with comments Vice President JD Vance made about " Chinese peasants," with one diplomat calling them " ignorant and disrespectful

Alright, folks, here&rsquo s the deal:

The markets are a mess&mdash stocks are dropping, Treasury yields are way up, and people are starting to sweat. So, I&rsquo ve decided: Let&rsquo s be nice to China. Yep, you heard me right.  Nice. It&rsquo s time to ease up a bit and make a deal. I know, it sounds crazy, but trust me, it&rsquo s going to work out great. I&rsquo ve done tough negotiations before, and now it&rsquo s time to show everyone I can play it smooth too.

Here&rsquo s the plan:


  • Tariffs: I&rsquo m going to cut them&mdash big time. But we&rsquo re not going to zero. Let&rsquo s not get carried away. We&rsquo re going to bring them down enough to make things better for everybody. China gets a break, and we&rsquo re still protecting America. It&rsquo s going to be a win-win.


  • Hardball? Nah: Look, I&rsquo m famous for playing hardball, but right now? We don&rsquo t need to go there. I&rsquo m going to be  super nice. They&rsquo ll be nice too, and we&rsquo ll see what happens. No need to stir the pot.


  • COVID? Forget About It: We&rsquo re not bringing up COVID in these talks. It&rsquo s too sensitive. We&rsquo ve got enough on the table, and honestly, I&rsquo m tired of talking about it. Moving on&hellip


  • Markets Are a Trainwreck: Let&rsquo s face it&mdash the market&rsquo s been crazy. People are nervous. And I&rsquo m not a fan of that. I want this deal wrapped up, fast. The longer we wait, the worse it gets. We&rsquo ve got to get things back on track, and I&rsquo m the guy to do it.


  • China&rsquo s List of Demands: Yeah, they&rsquo ve got a list. They want us to be consistent, and they want a strong negotiator. Well, guess what? They&rsquo re getting both. I&rsquo m making sure everything&rsquo s lined up so we can make a deal, no problem.


Look, folks, this is going to be huge. We&rsquo re going to be smart, calm, and get things done. I&rsquo ve got this under control.  Big time.

  1. Get me some talking points. But keep them chill&mdash nothing too heavy.


  2. Fill me in on what China&rsquo s really thinking. I&rsquo m sure they&rsquo ve got their own plan.

On SGX, retail destroy stocks because SG kiasu mentality is to buy only at Bid price.  
And die die must sell at Ask price.   Even when both wait for days.
So only outflow, no inflow.
Stocks move only when institutions and syndicates get involved.
That' s why on SGX, you invest only with a long time horizon and believes in the fundamentals of the business.

 Alert Admin 		That was before FH got spun off, value yet to be unlocked.
It was also before this ship started to earn billions.
Ship building tailwind was expected to last till early 2030s at least due to environmental controls on ships, but Trump had disrupted this.

Anyways this ship will not move higher before dividends because shorts have yet to cover. Will it crash after dividend? Nobody knows. I only know that short squeeze is best done right after dividend, not now.
