As a recap, telecom stocks were sold down after TPG Telecom won the rights the become Singapore' s fourth mobile operator last year. But, the house expects investors to temper their bearish expectations in 2018 after learning that TPG actually faces a herculean task to achieve a successful rollout. This view is premised on a reference made to Jio' s entry in India, where the new operator incurred a 50% higher investment cost than telco leader Bharti, and boasts a higher quality 4G data network. Following an initial subscriber migration, the incumbents in India managed to defend their market and revenue share by adjusting tariffs against those offered by Jio. In contrast, TPG' s mobile services will debut with minimal capex, allowing local incumbents to enhance network capacities with recently purchased spectrum, and offer larger data bundles and competitive plans to fend off TPG' s impending threat.  Unlike Jio, TPG also faces challenges of dwindling profitability in its core fixed-line business in Australia, which could have been a key factor prompting it to foray into the mobile services space. Another bright spot for Singapore existing telcos stems from the enterprise division. While Singtel' s enterprise business dwarfs that of StarHub and M1, it could also mean that there are more revenue opportunities for the latter two to grow in this area. Valuation wise, M1 and StarHub are trading around 7-8x FY18e EV/EBITDA, which is at the lower-end of their historical range. These are further supported by a ~6% dividend yield. As such, the house has Buy ratings across all three existing Singapore telecom players, with StarHub as its preferred pick. Details of the ratings are as below: - StarHub: Buy, TP $3.50 - M1: Buy, TP $2.30 - Singtel: Buy, TP $4.30

But if u want to rip quick big profit, then may not be so straight forward. Looking at the way the stocks swing...many r trying to play, instead of " invest" .
