Newest report from dewry on 24 june shows that dewry composite world container index increased another 15.9 % for the week ending 24 june. Container rates still trending upwards , heading into 2nd half of 2021. Current rates are already at an all time high. | ||||

Major container shipping companies are now starting to add surcharge on containers due to the huge congestion in Yantian port. This will push up container rates on Asia routes even higher. Samudera , which operate out of singapore as a hub, would likely see even higher margins in second half of the year. Another thing to wait for would be first half results in late july 2021 and we can see the impact of the high container rates pushing up samudera top and bottom line. Company is also net cash and accumulating more as high container rates persists. | ||||

Yes, half year reports will be around late july. Shares still undervalued compared to peers and at the current rate of containers prices, 2nd half earning for 2021 might be similar to first half or even higher. Imagine 1 year of earnings in 2021 = 3-4 years of earnings pre covid years

Ports in southern China such as Yantian, Shekou and Nansha have implemented tighter coronavirus controls such as quarantine measures until next week. This will push up freight rates further. Currently , freight rates seems to trending higher which means revenue for samudera will be even higher. | ||||

NAV would be close to $0.50 and trending up monthly if the high freight rates continue. Samudera is only at less than 0.8 P/B ratio. Compared to other shipping stocks like yang ming and evergreen shipping, this counter is still undervalued with 30-40% upside | ||||

Share price still lagging its regional peers, even that of Samudera Indonesia which reached its all time high recently with the announcement of its first quater 2021 result. Guess that Samudera Singapore will continue to stagnate until the announcement of its first half 2021 result. | ||||
