I don' t think DBS will stop paying the obligatory coupons. But, with the current low interest rate environment,... it i not logical for it not to redeem but to extend and may need to pay a higher coupon, or perhaps commit to some other arrangements which may not be so favourable to the bank.

Callable Nov 2020. DBS can still stop the dividends payout for May and Nov 2020 and they can also don' t execise the call back. Did I get this wrong?

dbs  4.7% ncps  is redeemable (callable) in 2020 (SGD 800m).

Anyone think dbs will redeem this, and issue a cheaper ncps??

Quick poll - Do you think DBS would stop the dividend for 2020?

dbs  4.7% ncps  vs OCC 5.1% ncps, which one is a better buy?  i feel OCC5.1% is a better buy as its 101.6 currently vs 105 for DBS.

Occ i think its redeemable anytime around when dividend is payable (SGD1.5bil), while DBS is redeemable in 2020 (SGD 800m).

Anyone has any thoughts here?

Did you consider its tier 1 status? Also do you think DBS will redeem it in 2020?

THere is no risk in premature redeemption because you sell at premium. Like I bought this on first offer and get assured return of 4.7% two times a year and the value also appriciates over time. You can sell this as a common stock in the market. These types of bonds from banks are safe bet as compared to Ezra type bonds.

Anyone can advise if this is a safe instrument? What' s the risk of premature redemption by DBS?

Info from DBS website states that it is not eligible to be tier 1 capital under Basel III but is tier 1 only under " transitional arrangements" . So although the NCPS is callable in 2020, I am wondering if it can be redeemed prematurely if it loses its tier 1 status.

they cannot redeem until 2020 if i am not wrong.

why is dbs  priced so much higher than occ 5.1%?  i know that OCC is redeemable at every dividend date now, but the outstanding is 1.5bil and OCBC just raised 500m @3.8% in 2015....so they definitely need funds

anyone having any thoughts there?
