I went into a leading sportswear store to look at the World Cup jerseys on sale. The recent punt on Nike has to do with it. Nike&rsquo s leading position in sportswear is losing ground. Over the years, due to the company focusing on doing more direct sales online, many retailers were sidelined by the change in strategy. Many empty shelves in sports wear retailers give On and Hoka the opportunity to have a stronger presence in their stores.

Commentary
The situation in the Middle East is in a mess. I wouldn& rsquo t bet my last dollar for the crisis to end anytime soon. The conflict is a deadly concoction of ideology and religion that has the potential to manifest into World War 3. Is it unwise to believe a few thousand missiles is going to change the entrenched ideology of another country. With so many countries getting sucked into the war because of some selfish individuals, the environmental and social costs are going to be enormous. Common sense and critical judgment are lacking here. The war ultimately increases the risk of a serious terror attack much sinister than the Sept 11. I hope cool heads to prevail. This war has no winner and all of us are losers of the war. I hope leadership can come from countries that are not involved in the war. It is no longer about sitting around the arena to watch a show. I pray for those people who have lost their loved ones in the war to find solace and comfort in God. God Bless.

I bought a position in Hotel Grand Central. To be honest, this stock is not my idea. I got it from a good friend who is very knowledgeable. He is a value investor that always manages to find hidden gems in the most obscure corner of our market. My hat off to him. Just before the end of the month was up. I received a well-written report by him on Hotel Grand Central(HGC). There are many people dropping ideas on me, but very few ideas go past my initial interest to the buy basket. I will summarise the main context of the report in point form.

I was just reading the AGM Q& A. The answers don' t give me any sense that investing in this company is a good idea.

Sold off all.my holdings in 2018 at about $1.30 100 000plus shares in Grand Central..now bpugyt Sarin st about 65cts..waiting for it to cross $1.00 and Sunpower bought atb85cts

Between June 16 and 17, Hotel Grand Central non-independent non-executive director Tan Eng How acquired 70,100 shares for a consideration of S$74,683 at an average price of S$1.07 per share.
Mr Tan maintains a 58.50 per cent total interest in Hotel Grand Central.
He has been with the group since the inception of the company and is a non-executive director of Grand Central Enterprises Bhd.

Hotel grand latest results shows that with a large investment portfoilo of office buildings, they are not affected and are still generating positive cashflow. New Zealand and Australia has a proposal in place to establish their travel bubble where Aussie Residents can travel to NZ and vice versa.
80% of Hotel Grand customers in NZ and australia are domestic tourist and business for HGC can pick up very fast once the economy opens up again
