Oceanus reports higher sales but incurs loss for 1HFY2022
Oceanus Group has reported higher sales of $85.7 million for 1HFY2022, up 63% over the year earlier six months.
However, because of higher financing and other operating costs, it went into the red with a loss of $818,000, versus earnings of $5 million reported for 1HFY2021.
The growth in Oceanus&rsquo revenue was driven largely from its distribution of foodstuffs in China, such as frozen meat.
Gross profit for the same 1HFY2022 was $6 million, nearly double $3.3 million from 1HFY2021.
Finance costs increased from $504,000 in 1HFY2021 to $2 million for 1HFY2022.
The company incurred higher costs too from a new head office and additional headcount to support expansion.
Oceanus&rsquo net asset as at June 30 was $63 million, up from $33.3 million as at Dec 31 2021.
Total liabilities, on the other hand, dropped from $110.8 million to $89.7 million in the same period, due to a placement of 1.27 billion new shares worth $29.2 million to settle debt.
The company says that over the past couple of years, it has held back its various expansion plans, in view of the ongoing pandemic and its associated uncertainties and restrictions.
&ldquo However, with the world now moving into a nascent post-pandemic era, industries are already preparing themselves for the re-opening of global markets,&rdquo says Oceanus in its earnings commentary.
The company says it is putting in place the various key planks to kick off the &ldquo big leap&rdquo of growth, which will incur higher operating costs.
&ldquo On the other hand, the group also looks forward to driving Oceanus to the next level of growth, evident in the recent growth in revenue in 1H 2022, increasing 63% to $85.7 million &ndash again the highest level of turnover for the group on record at halftime,&rdquo the company says.
You have to ask yourself. Are you confident G2G between Singapore & China?
If yes, move on for future food security between both country. If not, leave it.
I personally comforable to park S$ here than putting S$ in the bank with current growing high inflation rate.

The share price from 4c just a month ago of this tied up with SATS announcement during lunch time halt dropped till 2.7c recently will tell whether market favour this or not, Also China govt might change rules ban foreigner company listed and doing business there .(DiDi was asked to delist in USA)

Good tropic we hear but also want to hear bad one...share price and market response will decide it direction.
This is an amazing achievement by the CEO and team. Kudos to all the efforts in having this turnaround. The world is their "abalone" now (pun intended) :)

yes my only issue is this, due to the large amount of shares outstanding.
Apart from that congrats to all holders, was in oceanus since last year from 0.019 to 0.07 then back down to 0.02 then to 0.045 and till 0.033 before exit watchlist news came out.
There will be good days and bad days in the market, but as long as the fundamentals and outlook of the company looks good there should not be much to worry about

Yes indeed! Management kept promise after promise, toiled hard to turnaround the company, put their own money on the line to show they are invested alongside us... honestly, it' s a class act. It is rare to find such credibility in the firms I am investing in. I am trusting Oceanus' s management team to keep their future promises as well and keep growing my money.
That' s why, I am willing to put my faith and money in them, over uninvested naysayers who are constantly persuading others to sell from the " kindness of their hearts" who do not have skin in the game.
