Some analyst said this :

QUOTE
Several short-term signals, along with a general good trend, are positive and we conclude that the current level may hold a buying opportunity as there is a fair chance for Olam Group Limited stock to perform well in the short-term. Due to some small weaknesses in the technical picture we have downgraded our analysis conclusion for this stock  since the last evaluation from a Strong Buy to a Buy candidate.

Remind me of the nursery rhyme

Row, row, row your boat,
Gently down the stream.
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily,
Life is but a dream.

The other good sign which I did not mention in my previous email because I was so focused on the tree and not the forest - she could have simply ignored your email or given you a one line answer if she did not think a special dividend was going to be paid soon. My take from her choosing to reply in this way is that she is implicitly guiding you towards a special dividend being paid at the 1H results. Which I take as excellent news.

I will write to SGX and let SGX explain what is the purpose of having the minutes of meeting, recorded in EGM and AGM

Thank you for asking the question and sharing the answer. I was not aware that the SGX listing rules had restictions in terms of timing when a dividend could be declared. As a result I have done a quick read of the rules. From what I have read, it appears restrictions do exist. However, my understanding of the restrictions is different from that contained in the communication from Olam. In short, my read is that the restriction that is described applies once you have passed the end of the reporting period i.e. between 30th June and the date the 1H financal statements are released. As far as I can see from a brief read however, there should be no restriction for the period prior to 30th June. I am not a lawyer however, so this is not advice etc.

The section of the rulebook I have read is: https://rulebook.sgx.com/rulebook/practice-note-77-announcement-dividends-and-other-corporate-actions

If anyone wants to read it and form their own view (or indeed follow up with Ms Chow on the point I made) be my guest. I would be interested in her response if someone were to follow up.

As I have mentioned before it is not material to me whether Olam announces a special dividend before the 1H results or at the same time. I also think it reflects well on Olam to give such a detailed response - I can think of many companies that would just have ignored the email. But that said, I wonder if Olam have accurately interpreted the rules here

Hi xxx

Your question is related to the timing of the payment of special dividends. Assuming the board of a listed company wishes to declare special dividends, according to the SGX?s listing rules, the listed company can do so anytime provided it is accompanied by the release of financial statements. This is a fair requirement because shareholders should be aware of the company?s financial position to be convinced that the payment will not have a negative impact on the company?s financial health.

We are due to report our H1 2026 results in mid August.

Can u write to the IR again if they can publish an interim statement on the estimated special dividends to be given prior to the actual result annoucement in August.
In a way, similar to a profit guidance alert prior to the actual result announcement

The CEO leans on the CFO, yet the CFO has not delivered a clear estimate of special dividends.

If management were smart enough to lift the share price, they would make an interim announcement on SD to spark a rerating instead of keeping investors in the dark.

Right now, it feels like management is not working hard enough
