Singapore depends on tourism a lot. Many people's rice bowls will be broken if tourism cannot recover fully. Frankly, I am worried not because of SIA but because of tourism.

Business class will still be very much in demand because a lot of rich travellers not only will discuss business having a game of golf oversea, they also own private properties around the world bringing their family alone on business trip. These rich individual are the group that will still want the luxury in air travel.

The few months of COVID experience has helped us realized that a lot of activities are actually not essential.
We could lead a very simple life, if we want to.

Will be flying less for business trips as alot of discussions and meetings can be conducted online. Teleconferencing is also more efficient.
For leisure, will be packing a family of 4 on a road trip to various parts of Malaysia and Thailand.
No air travel is needed for me, whether it is for work or holiday.
Airline business is too heavy on CAPEX, may not be able to recover on time.

After Covid, airlines will become a high cost low / profits business. Demands for air travel will be very low. To survive, we will see undercutting between the airlines. And in order to bring tourists to Singapore to save the tourism sectors like hotels, retails, taxis, theme parks, casinos, etc etc, I expect SIA to perform a national service role. Cheap cheap air fares. Free also can as long as they come here to spend. But that will mean low profits or losses. Warren Buffet might be right. Daddy of first class honours son from UBS might be wrong.

Airline will likely be the last to recover from this crisis and the only hope is vaccine.
Even when there is a vaccine, people need not fly just to attend a meeting. Most things even board meeting, AGM can be done from home. People will fly only when on holidays. Budget airlines have better chance to survive.
