Yes, freight rates shot up since early 2024 and remains high since.
Shipping companies worldwide have been reporting surged in revenue because the huge increase in rates.
This should bode weil for Samudera.
The share price did shoot up to cross the $1 level abd touched a high of $1.06 recently.
But somehow the price took a dive last week down to $0.93 for no apparent reason.
This is SGX for you. Our market is too small and usually BBs are the ones to dictate how the share price goes.
Retail participation has little effect on the share price.
Anyway, yes Samudera is likely to announce half year result soon - next week? Expectation of strong earnings.
Samudera has been known to declare generous dividend.
I am invested in Samudera and is thankful for the dividend.
Hoping for some capital gain as well.

Through 2024, the global shipping industry has encountered a notable surge in freight rates across several major trading routes, signalling an early onset of what appears to be an unusually early peak season. Since the start of May, container spot rates have risen sharply, with the most pronounced increases seen from the Far East to North Europe, where rates have escalated by 30% since April 1st, reaching $4,343 per FEU by mid-May. This is a stark increase of 198% compared to the same period last year. Similar trends are evident on other routes, including the Far East to US West Coast, Mediterranean, and US East Coast, where rates have risen substantially, reflecting more than double the figures from a year ago. These fluctuations in prices can be associated with key events that both directly, and indirectly impact shipping routes.

Yes. There?s also FY22 interim dividend coming in Jul/Aug. Can expect it to be a fatter dividend compared to $0.005 for last year. My hope is $0.05.
