STE took years of sideways trading before earnings recovery, defense contracts, and aerospace growth pushed it out of the channel.

For  Seatrium to do likewise, it would require sustained earnings momentum and investor confidence in its turnaround story.  Just give the CEO time to do his job.

That' s expected as AEM has about 313 million outstaning share whereas Seatrium has about 3.9 billion shares.
AEM is so much lighter than Seatrium, so it can run faster

AEM every pip 50 lots queueing to sell, way before $4, only 30-50 lot queueing, while Seatrum had 500-1000 lot queuing, even 2000 lot queueing at times.
And whenevr they run up, another few hundred lot will come out from nowhere, it is very difficult for Seatrium to run like AEM.

Umless they have  very surprsing news and gap up, if not it is very hard to beat those sellers

You are always so postive on Seatrium.  For it to reach 2.50 and 2.60 already so difficult (if only it can run like AEM, but then  they are in different business sectors)
I' ll be happy If it can reach $3 pending its half year result

Let' s hope it doesn' t break below the rising wedge, else it could signal weakness ahead.

the bigger picture is that war is unavoidable now, Seatrium has both rigs and tankers capabilities. The longer the Iran war the more new riggs and tankers the world need.

For it to be double top, need to reach $2.50 first.  Still have difficulty breaking the downtrend connecting the prior highs of 2.60 and 2.50

Let' s see if they continue with SBB next Tues - 31 Mar.  Btw, repurchased shares not entitled to dividends.  See reply from MSCP

Repurchased shares are not entitled to dividends. Once a company buys back its own shares, they become treasury shares, which are excluded from dividend distributions and voting rights.

🔎 Why Repurchased Shares Don&rsquo t Receive Dividends

  • Treasury Shares: When a company repurchases its stock, those shares are held in the company&rsquo s treasury. Treasury shares are not considered outstanding shares.
  • Dividend Eligibility: Dividends are only paid to outstanding shares held by investors. Treasury shares do not qualify.
  • Voting Rights: Treasury shares also lose voting rights, meaning they don&rsquo t influence shareholder decisions.
  • Accounting Impact: Buybacks reduce the number of outstanding shares, which can increase earnings per share (EPS) and potentially boost the stock price.

📊 Comparison: Dividends vs Share Buybacks

Feature Dividends Share Buybacks
Cash Flow to Investors Direct cash payment Indirect (higher EPS, potential price rise)
Tax Treatment Taxed as income (varies by country) Often taxed more favorably (capital gains)
Effect on Shares No change in outstanding shares Reduces outstanding shares (treasury shares)
Dividend Entitlement Paid to all outstanding shares Repurchased shares do not receive dividends

⚠ ️ Key Considerations for Investors

  • Buybacks vs Dividends: Companies may prefer buybacks when they believe their stock is undervalued, or when they want flexibility (dividends set expectations of regular payments).
  • Impact on Remaining Shareholders: Since treasury shares don&rsquo t get dividends, the dividend pool is spread across fewer shares, potentially increasing dividend per share for remaining investors.
  • Market Perception: Buybacks can signal confidence in the company&rsquo s future, but excessive buybacks may raise concerns about underinvestment in growth.

Bottom Line: Once shares are repurchased, they become treasury shares and are excluded from dividends and voting rights. Only outstanding shares held by investors continue to receive dividends.

Seatrium is capitalized at $8bln and trades at 15x forward PE with consensus 1 year target price of $2.70 implying a potential upside of 16%.

While Seatrium could potentially be a beneficiary of higher oil and gas prices due to the middle eastern unrest, we note that Keppel has resumed selling Seatrium shares last week (~5mln shares) and given the weakness in markets given the macro backdrop, we have an Accumulate on weakness rating on Seatrium.
