You have a point.

1. Star cruise attract many gamblers (Aunite / uncles) tried their super star Virgo few times for holiday since my parents like to play jackpot.
2. Unlike royal Caribbean (their casino close by 1am.. took their 11D cruise, so I realize diff cruise have different client profile.

Personally I think Royal Caribbean is more fun. Got ice staking, flying fox.. etc. But dream cruises look like is a big thing.. hope dream cruise will make star cruise business "take off" ..

Re: " Long term positive" ??

Genting (HK) f.k.a Star Cruise. Now, looking at gaming and cruise businesses, what' s the outlook?

In recent years, have we noticed the trend of travellers and holiday makers? 10, or 20 years ago, cruise is such a popular holiday choice. Almost every household and neighbours would have some family members on a cruiseship before. Some even make regular trips. Gambling is also an " excuse" to get on a cruise ship.

Today? We have 2 full-fledged casinos. Aso, not forgetting, with the regional opening of casinoes, the market for the big hands has already somewhat diluted. How about holiday makers? Today, we have so many cheap, budget  airfares to many more destinations (Hawaii is up next). So many cheap hotel rooms (think Trivago, Expedia).

Yes, there are still people choosing to go on a cruise. But, comparing 10 years ago and 10 years ahead, what do you think is the outlook?

So, I guess you are able to figure out what is the likely outlook ahead.

(Genting HK also owns Zouk, but I' m not so sure about the night scene business in Singapore)

Longer term looks positive?

Compared to the rest of the stocks, this still looks cheap?

Genting HK is a very sick counter , it has never once threat the shareholder well , with only a miserables 1 cts dividend if they feel like ,but getting the share prices batch down for decade .this company is reporting loss for many many years , even with the big profit sales of Norwegian line by the billions , it share prices is still at bottomless pit , l wonder what will make genting HK shares move upward , or is it a fool stock ?

PROFIT WARNING
This announcement is made by the Company pursuant to Rule 13.09(2) of the Listing Rules and
Part XIVA of the SFO. The Board wishes to inform the shareholders, investors and potential
investors of the Company that, based on the preliminary assessment of the latest unaudited
financial information, excluding the share of results of Travellers International Hotel Group, Inc.
(&ldquo Travellers&rdquo ), the Group is expected to record a consolidated net loss in the range of US$200
million to US$220 million for the six months ended 30 June 2017, as compared with a consolidated
net loss of US$73.7 million, excluding the share of results of Travellers, for the six months ended
30 June 2016.
Shareholders, investors and potential investors of the Company should exercise caution when
dealing in the securities of the Company.

This announcement is made by Genting Hong Kong Limited (the &ldquo Company&rdquo and together with its
subsidiaries, the &ldquo Group&rdquo ) pursuant to Rule 13.09(2) of the Rules Governing the Listing of
Securities on The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited (the &ldquo Listing Rules&rdquo ) and Part XIVA of
the Securities and Futures Ordinance (Chapter 571 of the Laws of Hong Kong) (the &ldquo SFO&rdquo ).
The board of directors of the Company (the &ldquo Board&rdquo ) wishes to inform the shareholders, investors
and potential investors of the Company that, based on the preliminary assessment of the latest
unaudited financial information, excluding the share of results of Travellers, the Group is expected
to record a consolidated net loss in the range of US$200 million to US$220 million for the six
months ended 30 June 2017, as compared with a consolidated net loss of US$73.7 million,
excluding the share of results of Travellers, for the six months ended 30 June 2016.
Such expected decline in the consolidated net results of the Group is mainly attributable to a
number of factors including: (i) operating loss in Crystal Cruises due to a more competitive
environment resulting from a 13.7% increase in new luxury cruise ship capacity in the industry,
higher marketing costs and startup costs of new Crystal river ships and AirCruises operations (ii)
full half year startup losses in 2017 versus two months in 2016 in our German new building
shipyards as they gear up for steel cutting for the Global Class and Endeavor Class ships in March
2018 (iii) additional depreciation and amortisation of new Genting Dream and shipyards and (iv)
additional interest of new Genting Dream ship. Despite the decline in its consolidated net results,
2
the performance of the underlying core Asian cruise business has improved in the second quarter of
2017 compared to the first quarter of 2017, and the Group remains positive on the underlying core
Asian cruise business for the second half of the year.
The Board wishes to remind investors that the Company is still in the process of finalising its
consolidated results for the six months ended 30 June 2017 and the above comparison did not take
into account the Group&rsquo s share of results of Travellers as Travellers is a listed company on an
overseas stock exchange and its results have not been announced. The Board will consider making
a supplemental announcement for the Company, if necessary, after the results of Travellers is
announced. The information contained in this announcement is only based on the preliminary
assessment made by the Board with reference to the information currently available to the Board.
Such information has not been reviewed by the independent auditors or the audit committee of the
Company. The unaudited consolidated results of the Group for the six months ended 30 June 2017
are expected to be announced in August 2017.
Shareholders, investors and potential investors of the Company are advised to exercise
caution when dealing in the securities of the Company.

By Order of the Board
TAN SRI LIM KOK THAY
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer

Those of you thinking of a capital reduction and a one-off bumper dividend, forget it. Lim Kok Thay was never known to be kind to shareholders. Previously when he sold down NCL, the money was channelled to somewhere else and the capital reduction (payback to shareholders) did not happen. With a significant reduction in business, is Genting (HK) still worth it' s current price. Future revenue would be affected. And with the recent run up of the Hang Seng, Genting HK is going the opposite direction. So, it is quite clear where this counter is heading the next 12 months.

GENTING Hong Kong has sold its remaining stake in Australia-listed Star Entertainment in a block trade for A$235.2 million (S$250.2 million), the leisure and entertainment company announced on Friday before the market opened.

The shares, representing a 5.62 per cent interest in gaming company Star Entertainment, were held by wholly owned subsidiary CCL, and the sale is being carried out through UBS AG.

Genting Hong Kong will record a gain of about US$67.5 million from the block trade and from earlier disposals.

The company said that it was selling the shares because it was a " good opportunity" to realise a gain.

I m quite sure most minorities shareholders are holdings this genting hk share for at least 5 years onwards , not excluding those hold by parent company genting msia, which they sold to lim earlier , if you compare those houses that has appreciate by 2 to 3 times over the same periods , meaning the shareholders are very much short changes , it would seem to me that either lim Kok Thai is a very poor manager or treating his shareholders badly.

After selling NCL, with the spare cash, Gen(HK) did not opt for a capital reduction. Obviously, retailers shareholders were disappointed. Market did not see it worth as much as before. They did not even report that they bought over Zouk. Most of us read it from the mainstream news. It would take a while before Gen(HK) becomes profitable again. Then again Lim Kok Thai not known to be accurate with his " guidance" . So, holders can still be hopeful. Note: Gen(HK) closed higher today at 305.

No effect since they have been Super stingy on dividends despite record profits - and can't cause us further pain by charging us for holding this instead - haha. But seriously it's good that they whittled down their NCL stake. Else the damage would have been worse.

An update on my " Paid in USD" issue.

Early this morning, my DBSV broker called me and clarify that the SGD that was credited to my bank acct. is actually for Equation, which I sold for 0.015 1000 lots. I will receive Genting HK in USD by cheque that will be posted to me.

My apologies to DBSV for jumping the gun. My appreciation to my broker for handling this matter very promptly.

I just contacted my broker and he said he will check tomorrow.

I always take for granted that big name broking firm will never go wrong. I was wrong. Luckily, by chance I checked thru' my bank balance and happened to discover this mistake. Normally, buy/sell so many times within a month that I always assume everything is correct. Now makes me wonder if there are other types of mistakes in the past.

From now on, I will meticulously check every single transaction, even though it takes a few days to effect the entire process. Never be complacent!
