" The weaker quarter was mostly negatively affected by fees, trading income, seasonally-higher operating expenses and a slight trend up in bad debt provisions," Lam wrote in a note. Weaker trading activities could be the result of a weakening Chinese currency, he said. Net interest income should improve, though, supported by " decent" lending growth of 3% q-o-q and steady margins. On DBS' s asset quality, " most of the deterioration" will continue to stem from South Asia and Southeast Asia, he said. You can see sgx.com announcements. Weather you are retail investor or not, you will see it the same time as everyone theoritically.
Problem is if results are not good, it may gap down and you may not have time to escape. Conversely, If results are good, it may gap up and you wont be in time to join the fun.

Kyoto2008      ( Date: 04-Feb-2015 21:39) Posted: As I see it, DBS should not have any surprise.  On the housing loans side, I see UOB will suffer quite high non performing loans, there were already signs of lax lending in the past quarters.  OCBC could have some risks because of Wing Hang, we don really know if there' s any issue on loans, and this could spring a surprise if they have to write off any bad loans in a big way, thus putting huge pressure on the price.  I still see DBS as the safest bank among the three, as the loans are well controlled, they have POSB supplying a huge deposit base for them to lend.    Margins and competitiveness thus, would be superior for DBS.      The recent increases in interbank rates would really bolster DBS' s profits for the next few quarters as rates start hiking upwards.  The bank could surprise on the positive side for RMB treasury biz, investment banking boosting fee based income.      Private banking is a question mark, hope it can also give a positive surprise but at best neutral though with a good run in consumer banking in 2014 it' s more likely to be positive.    Note they bought Soc Gen' s pte banking arm and it' s a platform for the biz to take off under the charge of the pretty lady, what' s her name?
