it is sad to see such a promising company in O& G ends up liquidating all asset just because of some goondu Green advocates and the bias Queensland Courthouse. If the end verdict come up to be a non event, then the whole Labour Party and the Green advocates will be ashame...The biggest scam in the history of Queensland...

I pity those Australians who stick head & toe to the last day with their millions in life saving, some already retired & have to find a job after the liquidation, one of them even plead with me to question Genting' s management during their AGM on what was their intention as a corner stone investor & I did so, with my face looking for a place to hide when I was reprimanded by Genting SP CEO for bringing up a non relevant topic.
I guess it is over for this company, with the majority share holders i.e. Credit Suites,  Genting Strategic Investments (Singapore) & Peter Bond all writting off their holdings.

Bye bye & good luck to those still holding .  cryingcryingcrying

Thanks for the piece of report, really appreciated. So, what is your feeling of this case now? after all the news report from Queensland, my feeling is that Linc is hoping for a turn around of oil prices and start afresh from there...if oil were to hit $70...I think Bond will come out to do something about this case...Please comments!!!

Unusual&rsquo trial as coal firm hits court over land destruction
29th Jan 2018 1:06 PM-Alasdair Young.

A TRIAL with nobody in the dock and no defence lawyers has started after allegations a company caused damage during underground coal gasification.

Linc Energy, in liquidation, faces five counts of wilfully and unlawfully causing serious environmental damage.

The alleged offences happened between July 1, 2007 and December 1, 2013, in Chinchilla.

Judge Michael Shanahan told jurors on Monday, before they were empanelled, that this was a " somewhat unusual" criminal trial.

" Obviously a corporation can' t appear in person so there' s no-one in the dock."

Judge Shanahan told jurors Linc' s liquidators previously applied to the Supreme Court and asked not to defend the charges.

The judge ordered not guilty pleas be entered for all five charges at Brisbane District Court on Monday.

Fourteen jurors were empanelled and Judge Shanahan said the trial might continue past Easter.

Prosecutor Ralph Devlin said the Crown might call about 75 witnesses, including engineers, consultants, and former Linc employees.

One possible witness was from Uzbekistan. Others included geologists and drillers.

The lack of defence representatives meant the Crown would not be allowed to make a closing address.

But prosecutors would make an opening address, which may take several days.

Judge Shanahan told jurors they would have to be objective about underground coal gasification.

" This type of mining activity itself can raise strong feelings one way or the other..."

Jurors were excused for the day. -NewsRegional

State Government removes Linc Energy caution zones

23rd Jan 2018 4:18 PM- From the Chronicle(Alasdair Young)

THE State Government has removed its controversial " Excavation Caution Zone" and " investigation area" surrounding the defunct Linc Energy underground coal gasification site near Chinchilla.

In a statement from the newly-named Department of Environment and Science, the government said recent testing had shown a decline in hazardous soil gas contaminant levels in the Hopeland area, near Chinchilla.

" As a result, DES has removed the ECZ and investigation area because of the reduced severity of risk to landholders," the statement said.

However, the department said landholders should still consider the previous cautionary advice during excavations that dig deeper than two metres.

The map of the 34,000 hectare excavation caution zone in Hopeland and the 47,000 hectare investigation area near Kogan has been removed from the department' s website.

DES has conducted more than 1850 soil gas tests since 2015. Recent results show an overall decline in contaminants.

A further 46 farm health assessments did no reveal any associated impact, the department said.

The Queensland Government will continue to offer farm health assessments for landholders across the region.

Testing continues to confirm that human health is not impacted and neither are local drinking water supplies, air quality or agricultural products.

The ECZ was put in place in February 2015 when contaminant gases were detected in soil in the Hopeland region.

In February 2017, an investigation area was established after testing revealed contaminant gases in the soil at levels below two metres, outside the ECZ.

DES will continue to sample soil vapour bores and groundwater.

Articles in "The Courier Mail" states that the contamination cause by Linc Energy had already cleared. Which means there isn't that heavy contamination but was stir up by green activists and some fishy job behind the screen....if true, those invested will be laughing to the bank.
