Battery arbitrage BESS can generate 2-3x revenue per MW vs. solar alone

Downside Risks

Risk Impact
Construction delays Push profitability 12-24 months
Grid curtailment Reduce effective capacity factor to 20-25%
Interest rate rises Increase financing costs, squeeze margins
PPA renegotiation Lower contracted prices at renewal

Valuation Implication

If Metis achieves S$100M revenue and S$30M net profit by 2030:

Metric Value Multiple Implied Valuation
P/E Ratio S$30M 15-20x S$450-600M  market cap
EV/Revenue S$100M 8-12x S$800M-1.2B  enterprise value
Current Market Cap: ~S$130M
Potential Upside: 3.5-4.5x if targets are met and margins stabilize at industry norms

Summary

Timeline Revenue Net Profit EPS (S$)*
FY2026 S$20M S$3-4M ~0.001
FY2028 S$55M S$14-17M ~0.005
FY2030 S$100M S$30-35M ~0.01
*Based on ~3.03 billion shares outstanding
Bottom Line: Metis could generate S$30-35 million in annual net profit by 2030 if it successfully develops its 800 MWp pipeline. The key inflection point is FY2026-FY2027, when Gunsynd ramps to full operation and provides the cash flow to fund Bendemeer development without excessive dilution.

The Bendemeer Renewable Energy Hub has been deemed a  State Significant Development (SSD)  by the NSW Government.  A comprehensive Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) will be prepared as per the    SSD Guidelines,  to ensure the project achieves an appropriate balance between environmental, social and economic considerations and is in the public interest. The EIS will undergo a public exhibition period, prior to assessment by the Department of Environment and Planning.

The solar and wind components of the Bendemeer Renewable Energy Hub will have separate EIS documents and be assessed separately, as the solar and BESS components are proposed to be delivered prior to the wind components.

The below timeline outlines key milestones that will be achieved as part of the SSD development process.

Construction

Solar and BESS - expected to commence late 2023
Wind - expected to commence late 2025

2025 another strong year for large-scale approvals

Page 19

Of the 4 GW of large-scale generation capacity approved in 2025, 3 GW came from solar power stations. This marks the biggest year for large-scale solar approvals on record, beating the previous record of 2.5 GW set in 2018. 2025 was also the first year on record with multiple quarters seeing more than 1 GW of large-scale solar approvals, with 1 GW being approved in Q2, and 1.3 GW being approved in Q4.

Major power stations approved in Q4 2025 include:

&bull Aldoga Solar Farm (485 MW, QLD)
&bull Glenellen Solar Farm (260 MW, NSW)
&bull Carwarp Solar Farm (171 MW, VIC)
&bull Munna Creek Solar Farm (150 MW, QLD)
&bull Gunsynd Solar Farm (111 MW, QLD)

Another strong year for power station approvals is expected in 2026. As of 31 December 2025, 1.2 GW of large-scale capacity was under assessment by the CER, suggesting that strong approvals may be seen in the first half of 2026. Based on our generation project pipeline, and the typical timeframes for projects to reach approval from FID or the start of construction, we anticipate that between 3.5 and 4.5 GW of large-scale capacity will be approved under the LRET scheme in 2026.

Capacity Investment Scheme Tender 4 to deliver 6.6GW of clean energy

9 October 2025

The Minister for Climate Change and Energy has announced the results of Tender 4 under the Capacity Investment Scheme (CIS). The scheme supports clean energy projects to help us meet the 82% renewable energy target.

Twenty projects were selected, delivering 6.6 gigawatts (GW) of renewable energy&mdash more than the 6 GW originally planned.

Twelve of the 20 projects are hybrid projects, meaning they include a battery along with the wind or solar generation, contributing over 3,500 MW (11,400 MWh) to the grid.

  • Bendemeer Energy Hub &ndash Solar (252 MW) + BESS (150 MW/300 MWh) operated by Metis Energy, in the New England Renewable Energy Zone (REZ)

This follows the opening of 2 tenders for Western Australia - Tender 5 &ndash WEM Generation and Tender 6 &ndash WEM Dispatchable. Bids close on 7 November 2025.

Future tenders include:

  • Tender 7 &ndash NEM Generation (opening mid-October 2025)
  • Tender 8 &ndash NEM Dispatchable Capacity (estimated to open November 2025).

More tenders are planned for 2026.

To help drive the transition to net zero, the Australian Government has set a target to reduce emissions to 62-70% below 2005 levels by 2035. This is the next step on our path to net zero.

" Surbana Jurong (SJ Group) is a premier Singapore-based global urban, infrastructure, and management services consulting firm,  wholly owned by Temasek Holdings. Formed in 2015, the firm provides end-to-end consultancy, from master planning to engineering and design. With 16,000 employees globally, it focuses on sustainable, livable urban spaces.

In 2016, Singapore-based  Surbana Jurong Private Limited acquired Australia-based SMEC Holdings Limited  for S$400 million, creating a combined entity of nearly 10,000 employees. SMEC specializes in major infrastructure projects like hydropower, transportation, and water management, while Surbana Jurong focuses on urban development, forming a comprehensive consultancy powerhouse with a global footprint. "

In a significant step towards sustainable energy solutions, the Gunsynd Solar project in Goondiwindi, Queensland, has taken a major step forward with  Metis Energy  announcing they are moving into the next phase of the project after green-lighting EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction)  Contractor PCL Construction  to commence works.

SMEC, appointed as Owner&rsquo s Engineer  in 2022, will bring extensive expertise and experience to the project, having already  assisted Metis Energy in the tender development and evaluation stages and with the EPC contract design review and construction management plan.  SMEC will continue to provide crucial technical and design advice throughout the project&rsquo s lifecycle, remaining actively involved during the construction phase, offering technical support, monitoring activities on-site, conduct comprehensive on-site inspections and commissioning to ensure quality standards are met.

https://bendemeerenergyhub.com.au/wind-project/

The Bendemeer Renewable Energy Hub wind project will create a range of social and economic opportunities for the Bendemeer region and local surrounding areas, as well as creating environmental benefits for the New England region to build a sustainable future with renewable energy.

The proposed wind farm will generate an estimated capacity of 950 GWh/year of clean renewable energy, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 690,000 tonnes CO2, per year. For scale, the project will generate enough energy equivalent to powering 120,000 NSW homes

There are approximately 51 turbines currently proposed for the wind farm. Each wind turbine will have an indicative height from ground to hub of 169m, and a height of 250m from ground to blade tip of the turbine. The project nameplate rating is 360 MW.

Please note that the proposed wind project is in the preliminary stages of planning. All information will be updated as the project progresses, and will based on outcomes of consultation with NSW DPE, future detailed environmental studies, wind data analysis, constructability reviews and ongoing neighbour and community consultation.
