if driver cannot control train..might as well make it driverless..unless he is there to take blame..
what kind of saferty system?? kaput one ..can be removed accidentaly...
this means the safety feature is not idiot proof..mistakes can be made here....

Hope he&rsquo s not injured, being in front and not sure if there is a seat belt. Must be scary to brace for impact at that moment, especially with a small cabin space.

So should buy ST engineering? I think only they have the capacity and capability to win such tender.

Why would SMRT want to bear all the consequences dragging along LTA and the Minister?
They could have out-sourced the maintenance works. Even aircraft and defence businesses doing the same. Contractors bear the blame. Not up to par can always re-tender out, pay LD.......but of course must be willing to give performance bonus if KPI met.
So many big name maintenance, Engineering Contractors in Singapore. |

HENG AH!
I was one of the many retail shareholders who voted  reluctantly for the selective capital reduction.  Thanks the government for bailing out and the independent directors for watching out for the minority shareholders. Looks like the bleak picture is real. If SMRT is still listed today the share price sure tank to micro penny level.

Remember how bleak a picture and prospects they painted when acquiring SMRT cheap?

If that' s going to happen, CDG will shoot up immediatey.

I beg to differ - it was taken over from the hands of unwilling sellers, through a Scheme of Arrangement.  And they there was the cheek of awarding them the Thomson East Coast Line despite all their flaws, instead of CDG.  We could have sold for much higher, after the TEL win.  They should now confiscate all SMRT operating licences and pass them over to CDG, who is doing a much better job.

That is true, dirty tactic always and minority shareholders always lose out. In the end, the stock will be privatised at a " premium" over the last few months average and minority shareholders are supposed to be happy about it.
Unknown to most minorities, intention to privatise should be mooted more than a year ago during forecasting and planning the previous year.

Anybody aiming for SBS Transit to privatise?
Looks like they will be adopting the same business model as SMRT, meaning they will sell back the assets to the gov' t and sole operate as GOCO (Gov' t Owned Company Operate).
Not sure if this arrangement has been priced in yet.

After being forced to sell - they get the TEL. So so sad...
