Friend starlene, your instincts are good about GP Hotels and you should dump it at 27.5 cents.  I sold mine at 27.5 cents after the AGM which was not impressive. AGM was held in the attic floor of Fragrace Building and food coupons were issued to shareholders for plastic packet of food and bottled water.   Poor show of disrespect for shareholders who are investors and not budget backpacker tourists.
Dump it.
Why is there no interest in this counter?
Friend Brenocav, I attended AGM this morning. Chairman Koh owns (majority) controlling lion share of GPH. I saw his Jaguar parked downstairs at Fragrance Building.
You are right about the Annual Report: nothing great. Additionally, the high debt level is also an issue even if manageable (provided nothing bad happens). The only safety factor for us is that Mr Koh's neck (his net worth) is tied to GPH. He has also bought an additional 15.5 million shares two months ago.

Also did anyone look at the annual report? I glanced over it briefly...didn't seem so great - Really big increase in term loans year to year.

any opinions?
hey Yiming...Yeah I am vested - Just not a very liquid stock I guess, I'm just hanging on for until next month, I'll probably take my cash out after it goes ex-div.

Hopefully we can get a couple cents before then.

Just gotta let the market decide I guess.

Friend Brenocav, are you vested? Why isn't the price going up even a bit?
Yeah since the commission is flat it's better to buy as much as you can so that brokerage doesn't eat your profits as much.

Why is there no interest in this counter? I am still holding back from buying more. Lots of sellers coming out? Why?
Friend brenocav, thanks for the info on minimum trading charges.
I  have 2 lots at 0.27. I think I will buy another 2 more lots at 0.27 tomorrow. I wonder if friend starlene is vested. She has good entry point instincts. I don't see much downside as IPO price was 0.26. Net profit is nearly 30%. And I don't think OCBC is right about 2013 dividend of only 0.6%. I think they will maintain the 5-6% dividend as  in the past. Only worry is its gearing of 50% which is pretty high debt level.
Let's hope it goes up to 0.33 after I buy.
Yeah you've got a point...This counter isn't very volatile - don't really see a risk in parking some cash here for a bit longer.

Dividend is pretty good... equivalent to  yield of  about 3.6% much better than keeping money in the bank.  Plus capital appreciation

Hi Yiming2000, Where have you been trading?

Most brokerage in Singapore is $25min each way. Not like in the US where they only pay around $4 per transaction!

You can use DBS Vickers  cash up front min $18 which around $20.63.
The iocbc  has the calculator, it even shows you the breakeven sell price.
Normally buy $6000 worth of shares or more as there is a minimum charge of $25 regardless of the value

Hey guys, I just bought 10000 shares of GP Hotel at 0.27 and was charged a whopping commission of $28.14 by OCBC. Isn't that a bit high? What are the usual brokerage rates you guys pay?
