Yet again the 3 banks are powering up our STI ......3500 coming ....please note ( DYODD)
1, DBS is going to new high ....PE of over 1.8X ...wow MUCH higher then the other 2 . Many are speculating on special divdend ?
2, Interest wld be cut 2 or 3 X .....but this is a double edged sword
3. The Israel side is hotter then needed ....will Iran be drawn in ?
4. Chiina/EU issue is not going to be better ....just awaiting the next action .
5. Biden .....will he still stand for election ? Or will someone be taking over ......and so what is Trump chances ? Result can be of GREAT effect on
world stock market ...4Q .2024
6. Not forgetting our own coming election .....which might not be a big changer .

All our banks have hit new high and some corrections are coming in .
Expectation/s for a good ( how good?) 1H result and more so the payout could change direction in either way .
Are there any forward pricing into today price ? Especially for OCBC and UOB which might not be as strong as the Big brother
Globally interest cut would certainly and can be a cause of some correction
Anyway short term USA bank result might offer some indication .
The short term direction is tough for guess.......good luck

I have a feeling that if the privatisation of GE fails, OCBC will distribute some shares to its shareholders to restore the free float.. They would have gone thru all the various scenarios prior to making the offer. NOt sure if this happens will GE price start to fall back towards pre offer or continue to maintain current price?

Don' t bet on it. OCBC is known to be kiamsiap. Maybe only slightly better than the old dinasaur bank UOB.
I don' t expect special dividend from OCBC. They will come up with some BS stories about having to digest the purchase of GE
Then go pay extra few millions to Helen and her goons. An absolute stinker of a stock for shareholders compared to DBS

haha. Today the 3 banks again really ' fierce' . My view is if OCBC breaks 15.5, the rally is more than dividend play.
As people here pointed out it may be close having majority say on GE takoever.
If this were the case, the price would go berserk, as the value would be factored in.

Congrate to all bank counters ....hit new high .....lead again by DBS ....over $1 for 2 days in a row ....wow ( what is next )
All crossing major barrier ....38, 32 ( UOB is now $6 lower then DBS) and OCBC crossed $25 ( tmr is the closing of GE offer )
Hmm....OCBC will be interesting next week.....let see how they are going to handle GE counter ???

Valid point. The way ocbc is roaring now may suggest above 44c, my pious hope.
For me I hope it rallies around 4.8 so that when it XD still can add more around 4.20.
The value of GE has yet to be factored in. It will take time and the price surge is expected.

This is on book and I doubt OCBC can delist GE so soon .. dont think they need any debt funding as you rightly pointed out .
BUT definately OCBC ( any smart CEO) wld not take GE private and then offer OCBC SH a special payout so soon ....maybe next few years

OCBC is buying GE so cheaply that the value upside between the price paid and the actual value can be used to pay a special dividend. From a cash perspective this could easily be debt funded.
Not saying OCBC will actually do this, just that it could, given the value creation from the deal.

( whatever, OCBC is already over 50% of payout ) ......I doubt Helen will take any risk on special payout . The $3B profit do not come in so fast this year. What about the release of excess capital from CET 1 savings as special dividends??? The local banks are flush and have excess regulatory capital...
