Agree fully. Quite frankly, the recent purchase by the Chairman after their results of up to 75c/share is a good indication of what he thinks this stock is worth. Given the growth potential and the huge valuation gap with some of the Chinese and HK peers, not to mention international names, I think it is just a matter of time the big boys come in and push this up.

No. It is for one to accumulate it while it is cheap and to sell when it?s value is fair. That?s how investment is supposed to be. Cheers.

Thanks for sharing this write-up. Was doing some research on Strawbear (2125.HK) which is cited as the closest competitor though it is worth noting that they don' t have the concert business.

That aside, market cap of Strawbear is HK$7b (~S$1.2b) and based on FY19 results, they made RMB$50m. Their recent positive profit guidance was that NPAT for FY20 will be at least 70% so I guess it is fair to assume that they will make some RMB$85-$100m which is equivalent to S$17.5 - 20m.

iFast report cited FY22 PE multiples on the valuation gap but if we look at just FY20 as a more realistic comparison, GHY trades at ~18x PE based on S$42.7m NPAT while Strawbear will trade at 60x PE based on S$20m NPAT estimates. The valuation gap is more than 3x with Strawbear' s profit base being less than half that of GHY. All these primarily with very little contribution of GHY' s concert business of just ~12% of revenue based on their recent presentation slides for FY20.

GHY also has a dividend policy in place for first 2 years to pay out 30% of NPAT.

Just trying to square this huge difference in valuation, of which the Chairman has been doing personal share buybacks - is it a function of our SGX market not appreciating a hidden gem?

A comprehensive report by iFast published today with some good key points to note:

- rising internet penetration rates and technological developments with CAGR of 12.2% through till 2024 which will support demand for GHY' s content
- growth of online short drama series and intractive offerings to complement existing core business in dramas and films and concerts (tho defunct for now till pandemic situation improves)
- valuation gap with GHY trading at 12.6x FY22 PE below peer average of 16.8x

Share price has remained stable despite recent market correction and volatility. Selling has probably exhausted and is building a higher base. The key is for market to appreciate this hidden gem and the re-rating process will take place

Yup. SG market is always like that. Under appreciated and ppl chase for hot stocks. So this is a good time for accumulation while it is still not in the radar, although covered by one broking house. Based on my own calculation by looking at their latest report, this company earnings ability super high and that?s what I like. I will give it 6 months to 1 year. I expect to double my capital.

China' s iQIYI to develop regional stars for Southeast Asia push

Chinese online video platform iQIYI plans to launch a talent agency in Southeast Asia to cultivate its own entertainers as it pushes to become Asia&rsquo s dominant streaming platform, a senior executive told Reuters.

The company, the parent of which is search engine giant Baidu, announced on Wednesday that it is partnering with Singapore entertainment group G.H.Y Culture & Media to start a talent management agency to identify and train talent in the region of 655 million and showcase them in its productions.

The move, which comes three months after the streaming platform installed its international headquarters in Singapore, is meant to launch young stars that would be popular with both Chinese and Southeast Asian audiences, said Yang Xianghua, president of membership and overseas business.

&ldquo We&rsquo re already growing fast, with Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Singapore as our highest growing markets,&rdquo he said. &ldquo We saw 12 times the user growth for the region in 2020.&rdquo

Simultaneously, Yang said that iQIYI&rsquo s Southeast Asian productions are seeing strong viewership numbers in China.

&ldquo Our goal is to be an Asian content platform,&rdquo he said, adding there were plans for more original Southeast Asian TV shows and movies, with teams in South Korea and Japan working on developing original dramas and anime respectively.

A show on the agency&rsquo s search for Southeast Asian talent will also be aired.

With its young online population, Southeast Asia is becoming the newest battleground for streaming platforms, with video subscription revenue set to grow fivefold by 2025, according to a study by Google, Temasek Holdings and Bain & Co.

Other companies also have plans to expand in Southeast Asia. Disney+ launched in late 2020 in Indonesia and Singapore, Netflix has ramped up subscription-only services for the region and Chinese tech giant Tencent&rsquo s WeTV bought the assets of Malaysian streaming platform Iflix in June.

Tencent has won significant market share from iQIYI in China, but the two are collaborating on international productions. A company spokeswoman said that WeTV is now airing an QIYI-produced Chinese variety show.

The show features K-pop rapper and Thai national Lisa, of hit band Blackpink, the type of regional star that iQIYI now hopes to nurture.

Yang said iQIYI was also in talks with Singapore and Malaysian authorities to bring Chinese stars to the region.

Southeast Asia is one of the heaviest consumers of Chinese entertainment content outside China, but iQIYI is also intensifying efforts in North America and the Middle East.

&ldquo In North America, our target is Asian and Asian-American audiences, while in the Middle East we&rsquo re exploring the appetite for Asian content, but we see a big potential,&rdquo Yang said.
