when can see Thakral at 50c (before consolidation share price)
Over time, this counter has proved to be very resilient.  N ' tis not the first time it has returned $$$ in the form of generous payouts.  Recall that it gave 5c/share back a few yrs ago.  Yet, it has still been able to managed.  My view is that it' s a worthwhile longterm investment.  DYODD though.

I agreed that certain businesses will experience seasonal or cyclical periods. So a strong management be must there to tide over these period. But shouldn't the coy be more conservative instead of giving close to 10%? I think the more the coy should retain it reserves to buffer the volatility

I think business there are bound to be ups n downs.  The PRC consumer goods mkt has been in terrible state for far too long.  Credit to Mr Singh that he diversified into properties down under.  If not, I think this TC wld probably be in a far more terrible state today.

compare to 2015 its bad.
Besides, whats the point of having strong OCF when it eventually goes into repayments?
FCF is a strong indicator of a sustainable coy.
Would consider to entry if price drop below 20 cents.
US Elections is around the corner.

I think the result looks great. You need to look deeper to understand the FCF. The key area is always to look at the operating cash flow.
Operating cash flow: 7.7M (inflow),  Investment cash flow:   0.884 M (Outflow), Financial Cash Flow:   7M (outflow). The main reason for financial cash flow (outflow) is due to bank repayment of 14M
The CFC is 0.316M (outflow) ... which is slightly negative ... but this is because of the bank repayment. The key parameter - Operating cash flow is actually positive of 7.7M.
The NAV has increased to 0.745 (vs current price of 0.22). This is 29% of the NAV that is made up of cash and properties. Their cash is 29M (around 0.22/ share).
At cash of 0.22/share, they definitely can afford interim dividend of 2c (and as it' s stated interim ... could we be expecting another div in 3 mths when they announce FY report). Just went in again today.

typical of sgx stocks, not only this one.  But at least this one slowily improving.  Seem to be putting up better showing than HLA.  Yet Mr Quek not too happy with Mr Singh.

Thakral Group reports net profit of S$1.12 million for first half FY2016
Singapore, August 3, 2016 &ndash SGX Mainboard-listed Thakral Corporation Ltd (&ldquo Thakral&rdquo or the &ldquo Group&rdquo ) sustained its profitable track record for the first half of
FY2016 (&ldquo 1HFY2016&rdquo ) - posting a net profit of S$1.1 million as both its Investment and Lifestyle Divisions continued to deliver improved performances compared to the previous corresponding period.
Gross profit grew 45% to S$17.9 million for the six months ended June 30, 2016, despite a 15% year-on-year decline in revenue for the first half to S$134.4 million against S$158.7 million during the previous corresponding period.
The Group achieved a net profit before tax of S$1.6 million for the current period, compared to the pre-tax profit of S$7.4 million in the previous corresponding period.
The higher profit in the previous corresponding period was due largely to the inclusion of an unrealized valuation gain of S$9.5 million on its warehouse properties in Hong Kong which was recorded in 1HFY2015.
Gross profit margin improved to 13.3% from 7.8% in the previous corresponding period while profit from operations rose to S$5.7 million for 1HFY2016 compared to a loss of S$0.1 million in the previous corresponding period.
Administration expenses were kept in check at S$8.6 million, with a 2% dip from S$8.8 million incurred in the previous corresponding period.
Other operating expenses also fell to S$0.7 million for the current period against S$0.8 million in the previous corresponding period.
no one interested in Thakral, 100 shares can bring down price more than 10%

Spore listcos so many trading way below NAV.  So, not really something to shout abt from NAV perspective.  But yes, strong cash position makes it worth a bet.  Australian props seems continue to do well.

Went in last week (Small investment).
The current price is 0.215.
NAV - 0.73, Cash - 32.1 Million (0.24/ share). Reported profit for 1Q - $0.6 Million (PE is around 11 if they can maintain this profit for the next 4 quarters). I think it' s worth a bet .... since the coy has turned profitable ... and it' s trading less than the cash on hand/ and way below the NAV.
Q1 $0.6 million net profit.
