Fintech Ayondo calls for trading halt

CATALIST-LISTED fintech company Ayondo has called for a trading halt at 7.40am on Wednesday, pending an announcement.

The social trading platform had  announced on Jan 23 the resignation of its CEO  Robert Lempka.

It had posted a second-quarter 2018 net loss of three million Swiss francs (S$4.1 million) from a loss of 1.5 million francs for the same period a year ago as trading revenue dipped.

Its shares last traded down 1.2 Singapore cents, or 20 per cent, at S$0.048 on Tuesday.

Why is there a need for them to annouce this?  Red flags waving?.....................should investors run for the hills?


RESPONSE TO FINANCIAL CONDUCT AUTHORITY (FCA) ANNOUNCEMENT

he Board of Directors (the &ldquo Board&rdquo ) of ayondo Ltd. (&ldquo ayondo,&rdquo the &ldquo Company&rdquo together with its subsidiaries, the &ldquo Group&rdquo ) wishes to announce that, ayondo acknowledges the publication of the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA)&rsquo s Consultation Papers on restricting the sale, marketing and distribution of contracts for difference (CFDs), other retail derivative products and binary options issued on 7 December 2018.

The FCA&rsquo s proposed interventions are the same in substance as the changes imposed by the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) in August 2018 and therefore the Group already operates in compliance with these proposed changes.

The Group has never offered binary options and is not offering any other closely substitutable products. The Group has anticipated these regulatory changes and therefore, the FCA announcement does not change the Group&rsquo s expectations or strategy.

Probably run of of retail buyers already so they now throw another fishing line to entice retailers to take the bait.
