That does not make sense as a rationale. Given the underlying asset is HK Telecom which is not something you can move around, having a holding company in Singapore in no way removes any underlying country risk. It' s not as if the underlying asset is cash which can just cross borders at a touch of a button. We are talking hard assets - buildings, telecoms networks etc.

The intention was never to privatize. The intention was to hold the assets in a neutral country.

Still not clear to me whether the endgame is a privatisation or a wind up. Perhaps a wind up because you don' t need to have a fight with minority shareholders about price.

Wonder if PCRD will bid for Income Singapore after the collapse of the Allianz deal.

They have also said they are going to sell their remaining position in Exoduspoint between 30 June 2024 and 30 June 2025. Worth S$35m as at 30 June 2024, hopefully more by 30 June 2025 (Exoduspoint was apparently up 0.6% in July 2024).

That could go to pay another 5%+ special dividend.

It looks like they have gone back to paying out the equivalent dividend they receive in cash dividends from their HKT and PCCW shareholdings each period (so no special dividend this time from the cash saved from previous periods). HKT and PCCW skew their dividend payout roughly 1:3 between the first and second half each year so at this rate one would expect PCRD to pay a 3.36 cent dividend at the final results making 4.48 cents for the year as a whole. Which would represent a 14.5% dividend yield at the current share price.

PCRD announces interim dividend of 1.12c.  Fat hope of a fat dividend. Last year, they temporarily stop paying interim dividend to pay off debts. Nevertheless, it is still good that interim dividend is announced. Payment date will be announced later.
Happy to collect a few thousands of dollars to spend ...

So PCCW results due end of this week and PCRD early next week.

Based on PCRD underpayment of dividends since 1H22 it could pay at least another 4 cents these results just to pay out the previous dividends it got from PCCW and HKT that it did not previously pay out.

Of course it may not do so. Let' s see.

Probably not a special dividend. But definitely enhances the ability of PCRD receiving even more ordinary dividends. PCCW has debt that is yielding over 7.5% so the deal is accretive even when the proceeds are used to pay down debt.

The deal also emphasises how cheap HKT is from a book value perspective, which is helpful for the entire HKT/PCCW/PCRD structure.

So the fiber deal is now announced.

Looks like a good deal, but difficult to be sure how good given they did not disclose whether there was any debt attached to the fiberco. They should really make that clear.

FSL Trust has paid out a lot over the years too. But a lot of that has been capital repayment.

I think if you are talking about sustainable dividend payments then PC has been hard to beat.
