Just Posting an example...

I recall there is a fight over F& N between Thai billionaire and OUE ?

despite OCBC giving in early...selling majority share...

So i hope this happens again ? OCBC always like to do this kinda stunt one...

HOPE is a BEAUTIFUL word...

It's not a privatization. The consortium will hold 33% of UE. People are buying cos it will not be delisted and it's still undervalued.

The Offeror DOES NOT intend to increase the Ordinary Share Offer Price save that the Offeror reserves the right to do so in a competitive situation. Therefore, in accordance with Rule 20.2 of the Code, save in a competitive situation, the Offeror will not be allowed to subsequently amend the terms of the Ordinary Share Offer, including the Ordinary Share Offer Price, in any way.

People are buying on hope?

Impossible to have counter offer. OCBC already accept.

There are people punting for counter offer as the floor price is $2.60. Some with bigger risk appetite may think this is good risk-reward.

investshare      ( Date: 14-Jul-2017 11:19) Posted:

I also don't understand. I have sold half at 2.61 just now

Haiz no idea.

But before this takeover hype, it is the same NAV and what was the share price then?

CraigFoo      ( Date: 14-Jul-2017 12:05) Posted:

It's strange you sell at 2.61 when it was mentioned they are not privatizing it and the NAV is $3.06.

It makes some people look silly esp nothing ever mentioned about RNAV ....... the market behaving in the most logical fashion   ......... let the show begin

Though the current offer is not attractive nor compelling, in a way it provide (interim) closure to months of anticipation ...... and with all the T& Cs (& offer-price) now open-book, hopefully rival counter-offer will emerge.

I hunch it will get interesting ...... some may remember a certain party readied a $3b war-chest ..... banking facility late last year.

I hope got counter offer.... And hope the other shortlisted bidders initially come out with higher price. For example a 1996 forbes research mentioned Samling family has in excess of 2.6 bil usd. Since 1980s till 2015 the samling family has paid out more than 3 bil usd in acquisitions. They are cash rich and own hundreds and hundreds of companies and are big shareholders in other companies. Hope they come to the rescue...

Let's hope for a chance for counter offer. Or to buy in bulk shares from open market to trump perennial/yanlord's shareholding?

wow 2.66 over 15M shares done......someone BB is not happy with the offer.
Will another offer surface ?

UE will not be delisted. Looking at the price of over 2.60 done today and the large vol......not surprise if there is a BB going to give a counter offer.
Seriously 2.60 is low end for OCBC/GE to accept.

This means the huge dampener of OCBC and GE is finally over. A new owner is buying UE at 2.6. This doesn't seem too bad a price to me. So why sell

investshare      ( Date: 14-Jul-2017 10:44) Posted:

But it means there will not be an offer higher than 2.60 in near future right?

CraigFoo      ( Date: 14-Jul-2017 10:36) Posted:

The intention is to buy over the parcel from OCBC and GE and not privatize it. If one is to assume that $2.6 is to buy over entire UE and privatize it, then it's a bad offer. However, if it's just to buy over the parcel which happen to trigger the mandatory takeover offer, then they are just paying 2.6 for a 33% stake. Furthermore it will not be delisted, those with deep pockets are buying here. This is my tak

There has to be inside story. If OCBC/GE let go at 2.60, that seems silly. But, thinking of it, their original price is much much way lower!

Announcement already out, market is trying to digest the news.

May or may not get a better price in future, and if there is, how much more, and how long   more to wait?

Yes. I think it should drop below $2.60. No idea why still above. There's no chance for hostile takeover as OCBC already agree to sell them

I just sold mine 2.61 overall still slightly profitable after factoring previous trades in this counter.

Moving on, not interested if there' ll be any revised bids, price adjustment or any shit-nots anymore. Dragging for too long, decided to explore elsewhere.

Still, I want to my buddies of this forum good luck, hope things work out nicely later on..

I don't think the intention of the consortium is to privatize it. Taking a 33% stake at 2.6 without delisting it doesn't sound like a bad deal. Furthermore the nav is above $3. This looks more like a placement exercise

Yes, that may be true, but however, current price of 2.7+ reflects the sentiment of a take-over price, which is  anticipated to be higher.

Therefore, market reaction is, such that it will retreat back to, possibly 1.90 to 2.10 level. May take about 5 years of dividend to cover back.

C' mon guys, time to move on...if it' s  a losing  trade, I don' t think it' s really much. -10%? (mine is -3%) Afterall, we cannot expect to win all the time.

Better luck next time. Live to trade another day
