Asian markets rallied Friday as another broadly positive week drew to a close, with investors cheered by a report that the US was considering lifting tariffs on China as officials look to hammer out a trade deal.

Optimism that the world' s top two economies are on course to reach a deal ending their long-running trade row has helped boost equities across the world this year.

In a Thursday morning statement,  China' sCommerce Ministry said the just-concluded round of trade talks with the U.S. were extensive and established a foundation for the resolution of each others' concerns. Both parties, the Beijing ministry said, agreed to maintain close contact.   



The U.S. side had issued  its own statementearlier in the day, noting a long list of outstanding issues, but also recognizing that China had pledged to purchase " a substantial amount of agricultural, energy, manufactured goods, and other products and services from the United States.

HUTCHISON Port  Holdings Trust (HPH Trust) on Tuesday said Hongkong International  Terminals (HIT), Modern Terminals, Cosco-HIT Terminals (Hong Kong)  and Asia Container Terminals (ACT) have entered into a Hong Kong Seaport joint operating alliance agreement for the efficient management and operation of 23 berths across nine terminals  of Kwai Tsing container terminals in Hong Kong.

The objective of the alliance is to improve the value proposition of the combined terminal facilities in the context of growing regional competition maximise efficiencies for the benefit of  customers and the industry and optimise utilisation of the combined facilities and cost  synergies, while reducing the environmental impact of such operations in Hong Kong.

The parties will establish several committees  and an operations coordination team to govern and manage the facilities. The revenue and costs from the management and  operation of the facilities will be shared among the parties at a pre-agreed  ratio. The agreement may be terminated in certain circumstances upon the giving of not less than six months&rsquo written notice.HPH Trust said: " The trustee-manager believes that the Hong Kong Seaport Alliance will enable the parties to deploy their facilities and resources in a more cost effective and efficient manner.

" Taking into account the changing  dynamics of the shipping industry, in particular with the formation of strategic alliances between shipping lines  and the growing use by lines of larger vessels, the trustee-manager is of the view that the Hong Kong Seaport  Alliance will enable better utilisation of the existing capacity by increasing the flexibility in the overall berth  and yard planning among the 23 berths to better accommodate the need of such shipping alliances.

My 2 cents.
1. better liquidity.
2. Sometimes there is a small window period of FX advantage, cheaper to buy in USD after FX conversion as compared to SGD price due to bid/offer disparity between FX vs share price bid/offer spread.

I' m asking a very noob question. Minimum how long do I need to hold the shares in order to be eligible for the dividends? 
I' m vested and got the previous dividend. Thinking to load more for next year' s Feb one. 

 

I am holding for Dividend Qtr . Coming Soon.

 

So next week breakout above us 30 cents ?

in my watchlist. Look at it everyday. Bbs just gobbled up 27.5 just now. No chance to even buy some.
