On May 4, GL substantial shareholder Hong Leong Company (Malaysia) Berhad (HLCM) increased its deemed interest in the listed company above the 71 per cent threshold. The acquisition of 310,000 shares for a consideration of S$173,600 was transacted at 56 cents per share. This acquisition took HLCM' s deemed interest in GL to 71.01 per cent.
The filing noted that HLCM' s deemed interest in GL shares had increased from 70.02 per cent due to open market purchases of an aggregate of 13,596,400 GL shares by GuocoLeisure Assets Ltd, between Nov 27, 2019 and May 4, 2020.
The company look like trying to do something.. Keep buying it share.. Now already hold up to 71%.. Weird move..

The change in the percentage level of HLCM&rsquo s deemed interest in GL shares is due to open market purchases of an aggregate of 13,596,400 GL shares by UOB Kay Hian Pte Ltd for its beneficiary, GuocoLeisure Assets Limited (&ldquo GLAL&rdquo ), between 27 November 2019 and 4 May 2020 (both dates inclusive). HLCM is deemed to be interested in GL shares held by UOB Kay Hian Pte Ltd for its beneficiary GLAL by virtue of Section 4 of the Securities and Futures Act (Cap. 289)
GL Limited to ' progressively' close hotels as Covid-19 hits bookings

HOSPITALITY group GL Limited announced on Tuesday that the hotels under its hospitality subsidiary GLH will &ldquo progressively be closed temporarily&rdquo amid the Covid-19 outbreak, with the exception of a few to serve the needs of some guests.
The spread of the virus to Europe and the United Kingdom has caused &ldquo significant reduction in bookings and increase in cancellations&rdquo .
The pending closures were also prompted by the call from the UK government to practise social distancing and to halt activities.
While the extent on the group' s operations and financial performance for the full year ending June 30, 2020 cannot be determined, it noted that its financial results &ldquo will be significantly and adversely impacted&rdquo compared to the previous financial year on the back of uncertainty surrounding Covid-19 and low oil prices.
Meanwhile, it has also implemented measures such as cost reduction initiatives and temporarily deferring capital projects which are not critical in order to preserve working capital and liquidity.

Yep, buy on rumours. May not (in fact, I' d say not likely) materialise. But this stock has the habit, once in a while, of churning out rumour (don' t know from where) n powering from there. This cld be one of the occasions. But do exercise care n dyodd.
