- Malaysian Smelting Corporation, a subsidiary of Straits Trading, suspends operations from 4th June 2021 to 14th June 2021 to adhere to MCO 3.0
- MSC has made an appeal to allow it to operate at 60% workforce capacity, being a key supplier to the global tin supply chain
- Our view - the impact to Straits Trading is minimal as MSC' s contribution to our valuation of Straits Trading is only 5.6% at most
- We also believe MSC could be successful in its appeal given the strong demand for electronics, tin being an essential raw material used in the industry, and MSC being the third largest supplier of tin metal globally

The Straits Trading Company on Thursday announced that its subsidiary, Malaysia Smelting Corporation (MSC), has temporarily suspended its tin mining and smelting operations in Malaysia from June 4 to 14 pursuant the country' s Movement Control Order 3.0. This is expected to impact MSC' s operations and financial performance for the financial year ending Dec 31, 2021. Shares of Straits Trading closed S$0.01 or 0.4 per cent higher at S$2.86 on Wednesday.

Above 3 is still cheap. ARA alone is worth 1 billion plus for straits trading. Now stc is only worth 1.2 billion
