It was previously listed on Australia Stock Exchange (ASX) and known as Cygenics Limited.

Renamed as Cordlife Group Limited (" Cordlife" or the " Company" ) has 2 core businesses: Cord blood banking and umbilical cord tissue banking. It now focuses on 3 countries, S'pore, Hong Kong and China.

It industry prospects -- It business model is somewhat like a " specialized" storage hub as larger of two private cord blood bank operators in Singapore in terms of market share.

• Currently stored in excess of 35,000 cord blood units in Singapore and Hong Kong
• Second largest private  cord blood bank player in terms of market share in Hong Kong

A new interesting  business model, question is...can the  Co continue be able to sustain it profitability, just like in ASX??.

http://sg.finance.yahoo.com/news/china-factory-output-surprises-11-023514335.html  (Reuters)

China's big factories were surprisingly busy in March as new orders lifted activity to an 11-mth high, but credit-constrained smaller manufacturers struggled, suggesting that the economy is still losing steam ??.

The pickup in production at large factories was attributed to an expected bump as winter ends, and economists cautioned not to read too much into the stronger-than-expected figure.

That left view that China's economy, while not crashing, likely it was  worst quarter in 3 years between Jan -  Mar, and requires at least some monetary policy easing this year to ensure the cool down stays mild.

Hopes for turnaround were kept alive on Sunday, official Purchasing Mgrs' Index (PMI) highlights large factories jumped to an 11-mth high of 53.1 in March, up from February's 51 comfortably beating forecasts of 50.5.

The nos will likely cheer finiancial markets on Monday by dispelling China is sliding towards a " hard landing" .

Reuters -- Sunday, Apr 01, 2012

TOKYO - Japan's defences against a major tsunami and the safety of its nuclear plants were thrown into further doubt after two official studies predicted much higher waves could hit and that Tokyo quake damage could be bigger than it was prepared for.

The reports, carried in the media over the weekend, are likely to intensify the debate about whether to restart Japan's 54 nuclear reactors, all but one of which are shut amid public fears about nuclear safety sparked by the Fukushima disaster in March 2011.

A magnitude 6.3 earthquake hit northeastern Japan on Tuesday, there were no reports of damages or casualties and a tsunami warning was not issued. The quake, shook buildings in the capital, Tokyo, struck off the northeast coast of the main island of Honshu at a depth of 20.5 miles (32 km), the USGS said.

Japanese broadcaster NHK and the U.S. Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said there was no danger of a tsunami.

Tokyo Electric Power Co said there were no abnormalities at its nuclear plant in Fukushima, which was severely damaged just over a year ago by a magnitude 9 quake, Japan's strongest on record, which triggered a big tsunami and caused the world's worst nuclear crisis in 25 years.

Tuesday, high-speed bullet trains serving northern Japan were halted but resumed later after no damage was reported, NHK said.

There has been a five-fold increase in earthquakes in the Tokyo metropolitan area since the year-ago disaster, the Tokyo University Earthquake Research Institute.

Indonesian palm oil firm, Bumitama Agri Ltd, filed for an initial public offering (IPO) in Singapore, in a listing expected to raise as much as S$222 million (RM543 million), a source said.

The source with knowledge of the deal said yesterday Bumitama would raise more than an initially expected US$160 million (RM493 million) due to improved company valuations and strong demand for its shares.

Bumitama had postponed its planned IPO in June last year, citing uncertainty in markets.

Bumitama's shares will be priced between S$0.675 and S$0.745, and trading is expected to start in the week of April 9, said the source.

HSBC and DBS are the joint bookrunners for the IPO, according to the prospectus filed yesterday.

Bumitama is offering 297.6 million shares, comprising 273.3 million new shares and existing shares. There is an over-allotment option of 29.7 million shares.

Cornerstone investors, including UOB Asset Management Ltd, Value Partners Hong Kong Ltd and Wii Pte Ltd, a subsidiary of S'pore-listed palm oil firm Wilmar Int Ltd, will subscribe for about 124.8 million new shares.

Bumitama owns oil palm plantations and processes the fresh palm fruit into crude palm oil and palm kernel for sale in Indonesia. Reuters

Australia has been hit by its biggest earthquake in 15 years, seismologists said, rattling a remote part of the desert with local Aboriginals reporting strong shaking but no major damage. The 6.1-magnitude earthquake had its epicentre near Ernabella, in the middle of Australia, at a shallow depth of three kilometres (1.8 miles), Geoscience Australia said.

Ernabella is an indigenous arts hub home to about 500 Aboriginal people, some 317 kilometres southwest of the popular Alice Springs.

Seismologist David Jepsen said. It was Australia's biggest quake since a 6.3-magnitude one was recorded in West Australia in 1997.

Widening Wealth Gap - S'pore inclusiveness is ahead by one to two step....

Since the handover in 1997, median monthly household income has remained unchanged at HK$20,000 ($2,575) in the city of 7.1 million, while the economy grew 62 percent, stoking public discontent.

Leung, 57, pledged --  the son of a policeman, addressed public concern, he may seek to curb personal rights and freedom of speech after Tang accused him of advocating the use of anti-riot police on protesters in 2003.

“I promise that all the freedom enjoyed by Hong Kong people won’t change,” Leung said today at a press conference. “We need measures to tackle the deep-rooted problems of uneven distribution of income, inflation, housing, medical services, education and political reform.”

Leung has pledged to build more public housing, increase land supply and provide tax-breaks to help residents buy their own homes. He also promised to speed up public projects like expanding the city railway system and encourage the use of electric and hybrid cars.
