STI to cross 3000 boosted by long-term investors

http://sg.finance.yahoo.com/news/italy-bond-auction-fails-match-111504090.html Friday. Italy sold its Nov (Stuttgart: A0Z24E - news) 2014 3-yr benchmark bond at an average rate of 4.83%, down sharply from a yield of 5.62 yield at an auction just 2-wks ago. The end Dec 3-yr sale was the 1st bond auction after the ECB's unprecedented injection of 3-yr funds and yields fell from a record of nearly 8% seen in Nov at the height of the debt crisis. Rome also sold two off-the-run issues, due in Jul 2014 and Aug 2018. The ECB's liquidity boost, evident also at an Italian bill sale on Thursday where one-year yields more than halved, has boosted market sentiment on the two countries at the fore of the euro zone debt crisis, driving Italian yields sharply lower on the secondary market. But sentiment remain fragile with investors well aware that Rome faces a challenging funding task in 2012. With ECB support limited to shorter-end maturities, longer-dated Italian bonds remain vulnerable and attention will soon turn to tougher  5 and 10-yr Italian sales scheduled for Jan 30. " Looking beyond the issuance challenge for Italy remains significant. Mkt pressures are most apparent in the 10-yr sector of the curve which will face supply in 2-wks time," Citi analysts wrote in a research note. Some 90 billion euros of Italian bonds are due to mature between Feb and Apr - more than Spain's target of 86 billion euros of medium and long-term issuance in the whole of 2012. |

SMRT  said.  Tan Ek Kia is interim CEO." I personnally think, the board need no futher to conducts a search for a new CEO. Since Jul, 09. " Mr Tan has been a board director of SMRT.  A former MD of Shell M'sia Exploration and Production and Chairman of Shell North East Asia and has a diverse portfolio in engineering & construction, safety, operations and business management. Source: Business Times Breaking News." teeth53 thot - Perhap  I would wish there is someone else, as well  in taking over from the current chairmanship, who had missing opportunities as well  for not chairing the board of Director in his/her capacity.  |

By talking to convinced her employer boss, her rop down style is alot more profiting venture, importing retail trade experience  to a new conception style, a  public transportation services  company.  Resulted in.... Taking responsibilities for nine years, chasing after profit is good, but oso for nine years leaving a long damaging trail of trackrail to mend. Bad as well for been less able to lay claim as world class. Thank to her  for topping it  down, firing  most of her  key  experience top  mgt term, left - included is  several of her top deputy personnal and engineering staffs who is not good, not  knowing how  to explain or putting fine nice wording into their accessment paper. (" I am staying put..." is = to top field commander leaving n  leaving cmd in chief to lead  troop to do battle) http://www.asiaone.com/static/multimedia/gallery/111215_mrt/ Note - We need more Martina then Cleopatra for leading public services institutes, @fraction of her salary.  |

http://finance.fortune.cnn.com/2012/01/04/european-credit-default-swaps-crisis/?iid=HP_LN Europe's ticking time bomb: Credit default swapsSome recently released European data, however, make a ballpark estimate possible. Exposure by six major American banks to CDS on Italian debt alone, for example, may be as high as $200 billion. Overall, U.S. banks may hold two-thirds of the total euro-debt CDS outstanding. Presumably, most big banks have learned the painful lessons of 2008 and no longer take either a long or short derivatives position but hedge their exposure, making their net risk close to zero. But the real concern is: How solid are the trading partners of the U.S. banks? Hot emerging markets for investors It turns out some of the largest sellers of protection are banks in Europe. French bank BNP Paribas has sold $4 billion in protection on French government debt, 12% of the global total. Similarly, Italy's Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena has sold $3 billion worth of protection on Italian government debt.   |
