A worse than expected Q2 result due to Brazil market should not change the stock price too much. In some degree, it was expected. However some investors are easily getting panic, including me. The price would go down, let us see how much it is. A few cents are acceptable. | ||||

Vard sees Q2 falling below expectations BY CARINE LEE Singapore VARD Holdings Limited expects the group's financial results for the second quarter ending June 30, 2013, to be lower than consensus market estimates. In a profit guidance issued yesterday, the global shipbuilder said operations in Brazil continue to negatively affect the group's performance. " Margins are impacted by further delays and cost overruns at the Niterói yard due to lower productivity than expected, additional costs for outsourcing of hull construction activities to subcontractors, and revisions to the estimates of start-up costs at the new shipyard, Vard Promar," it said. |

Can take comfort that it's profit guidance & not profit warning. Vard expects the 2Q financial results to be " lower than the current consensus market estimates" . Hope it is not so much lower. Would know on 11 Jul after market closes. |

Not so bad by looking at the last para. : The opening of the new yard represents a milestone for the Company’s presence in Brazil, offering opportunities for growth, better operational stability, and a substantially improved cost position. Operations elsewhere in the Group are stable, and the Company as a whole remains profitable. A complete overview of Group’s performance will be disclosed when the Company finalizes and announces the unaudited results for 2Q 2013 on 11 July 2013.

wah sianz.. means have to wait longer again for it to rally and rise. This ship gonna face more rocky waters for the time being. Anyway, based on 1st quarter results, my FA valuation for Vard is 1.45. Suppose there is more downside, i estimate it to be not worst than 1.2, but this shall only be for the short term. Once the Niteroi shipyard operations have stabilised, the worst should be over. Whether 1.2 or 1.45, this stock is still going on GSS. But as I mentioned b4, you gotta need lots of patience for this counter. So it would be best for investors to act in their own best interests, whether to buy, hold or sell. Happy weekend!! =) |
