So far only drop 1cts when the market so bad. And on 20 Dec, it had very high volume closed at $1.14 confirming the bottom. Furthermore, when the date of actual fare increase come closer, the share price will also climb. Not forgetting that this  will be  double increase of fare, this year plus next year.

SMRT is a gone case stock because of its political liability.  The commuters want it cheap and reliable (worse in Hokkien " Ai Qing ya ai perng" ) Don't forget that the MRT are built with " Qing and Perng" , surely more breakdowns.

Defensive stock is a mere fantasy in trading realm. However, many who are new to trade in stock wanted defensive stock and bought in. Today, SMRT had dropped a lot in value. Imagine IPO of $0.61 in year 2000, till current 14 years later- NAV becomes $0.51 (even after bought in many buses) Because Trains, Buses have an operating lifetime which depreciate overtime. " Depreciating NAV" is a totally different case :)

SMRT's NAV ($0.51)  with packed cabins, frequent breakdowns required increased maintenance cost.  The downtrend will move gradually overtime, which may take months. Besides, the  decrease in dividends  from 7 cents to 2 cents do not make it an attractive stocks.    Shareholders of SMRT had already received  accumulated dividends  more  than original IPO price-  which essentially means they are holding SMRT stocks are of no cost. (As Dividends over the years > SMRT IPO $0.61).  As SMRT consists of assets which are aging, it is a  depreciating assets (Which will impact the NAV $0.51) I boldly predict SMRT will fall below $1, and towards the  $0.70- $0.80 range  in months to come.
