I guess if the market start selling down on Beng Kuang due to this results then it is a bit short sighted. If the oil price keep going down, the maintenance fee for them will tend to increase in the near term.

Beng Kuang Marine reports profit before tax of $4.18 mil for 1QFY2025 Absence of one-time gain in 1Q@25
Beng Kuang Marine has reported a profit before tax of $4.18 million for 1QFY2025 ended March 31, 2025, down 63.1% y-o-y from the $11.32 million reported in the same period a year ago.
The previous year&rsquo s profit before tax saw a one-time gain of $5.83 million from disposal of the second partial sale of its Batam property. Excluding this one-time gain, the net profit for the previous year would be $5.49 million.
The group&rsquo s ebitda declined 58.8% y-o-y to $5.06 million in 1QFY2025.
Revenue similarly declined 16.6% y-o-y to $23.9 million in 1QFY2025, and gross profit declined 11.3% y-o-y to $8.7 million in the reporting period.
The decline in revenue is due to the group&rsquo s infrastructure engineering (IE) division experiencing some delays in the commencement of some floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) projects.
This is due to logistical and administrative issues in one of its key operating markets within Africa, the group says. The contracts of the group&rsquo s deck equipment business are scheduled to commence in 2Q2025.
Beng Kuang&rsquo s corrosion prevention (CP) division reported lower revenue due to the timing of work assignments in 1QFY2025.
Commenting on the 1Q2025 results, Mr Yong Jiunn Run, Chief Executive Officer of Beng Kuang Group, said: &ldquo While our business activities experienced delays due to the timing of projects execution, the Group continue to deliver profitability with healthy cash flow.
Our strong operational fundamentals and disciplined financial management position us well to navigate near-term challenges and we remain confident of the Group&rsquo s overall momentum moving forward.&rdquo
On outlook, Mr Yong highlighted: &ldquo Barring unforeseen circumstances, we are seeing a healthy pipeline of projects supporting FPSO operations that can potentially increase the number of fleets under our management.
In addition, our deck equipment business recently secured a US$4.9 million contract that reflects the growing confidence from our clients in our technical capabilities and reliability of our products and services.
Building on the new ground that we have gained in Brazil and Malaysia, we are actively pursuing opportunities to progress towards our strategic objectives.&rdquo

Beng Kuang Marine
Between Apr 7 and 9, Beng Kuang Marine executive chairman Chua Beng Yong acquired 500,000 shares at an average price of S$0.18 a share. This took his total interest in the company from 4.38 per cent to 4.63 per cent. His preceding acquisition was in September 2022, with 2.4 million shares purchased at an average price of S$0.053 apiece.
Chua Beng Yong is one of the founders of the group, and has more than 30 years of experience in the marine, offshore, oil and gas industries. He has been serving as the executive chairman since January 2022. In this role, he oversees the overall management of the group, including the development and direction of corporate plans, business strategies and initiatives.

Based on their core earnings....PE is about 7 times (mkt cap is about 45m). Company also doesnt have much debt and has started to reward shareholders. With an asset-light model, their IE biz is the key growth catalyst with good momentum ahead. To me, they are a much better bet than their peers with higher double digit PE and mkt cap (like Marco Polo Marine (at 200m mkt cap)). DYODD.. |

Yes, well said, Bro TradeBen I invest in shares of good and growing companies (after doing some due diligence).and most of the time using my SRS account - hence cannot day trade! I have got some shares you mentioned in my SRS account and I usually hold them until they reach my target or some eventual events - like Dyna Mac. Anyway, I am into BK as I like the BK2,0 strategy of CEO Yong. The FY2024 results cemented my faith. Will hold this and hopefully can become another Dyna Mac.
