Wolf Money(Haw Par AGM Questions and Answers) AGM is the best time for asking questions. It is the only time of the year for the shareholders to put their board of directors and CEO to the test with some questions, some difficult one can throw them off course. Don' t know, only know Dr Wee (Cho Yaw) recently only bought more UOL shares but did not buy more Haw Par shares. UOL stock price has been moving upwards these few days. This also benefits Haw Par but it may take a while before it is reflected in the stock price.

Portfolio update part 1 Titanic The year was 1997 when the movie ' Titanic' started its record breaking box office journey. This year is the 25th anniversary since the first screening of the movie. It depends on how the traders and investors look at them. One could be stuck there for a long time is market sentiment is not so good until someones who made money elsewhere comes and push up the prices. So investors prefer those where they " could earn more while they wait" traders prefer those high volumes ones where they could buy low and sell high cautious people with extra money prefer those that they could get safe returns of course there are also those that like slow and steady ones rather than votalite ones. I have quite diversified porfolio but I am also waiting for many undervalued stocks with good fundamentals and profits to climb up. Fortunately I also have good dividends paying stocks that are making my life happier.

So companies earning well but don't pay good dividends must be perpetually punished with low share price? What the logic? A company is valued by their assets and earnings, not how much dividend they pay out, right?

Yes, but there are always people who are going for good stable returns. The increased cost of operations affected profits and dividend payouts so more people like guaranteed returns. Those kinds of companies would be reported by some investment websites as paying out unsustainable dividends. In Singapore context, companies that make good returns consistently must pay dividends.

Share price should track things like revenue and earnings more than dividend. People are buying shares for investment value, not opening a fixed deposit. If dividend is a main determinant of share price, then companies with shitty earnings can just prop up share price by announcing good dividends for one year? What about companies with consistently good earnings but don't pay dividends, their share price should go down the drain?

Yep FD & T-bills all sport higher rates than dividends from 🐅 🐆 .
But do rmb 🐅 🐆 is a business & it's currently undervalued whichever ways u look at it. So I am prep to wait & collect dividends meantime. 🧧 💰

Because of US Federal Reserve' s interest rates and local banks' s FD rates both higher than Haw Par' s dividend rates. Haw Par is an " elephant" ( big but moves slowly ) stock. People with at least $10k to $20k to spare would choose to park their money the gauranteed higher interet rates places unlike last time when interest rates were a lot lower. Smaller retail investors like me who already invested here and there are stuck with depreciated stocks and not willing to sell good investments. Also Haw Par is quite expensive and require a few months pay just to buy one lot. Trading volume is relatively low and there is another competing component stock priced higher that is highly traded. But I must agree, it is a good stock, last time I had approximately 20% profit margin. Keep waiting if you could, it would bear more fruits one day.
