Ong beng seng' s offer for HPL was at approximately 1.13 times book value and for uob' s offer for pan pac it was at approximately 1.65 times book value. All these info are widely available, from a value perspective, I recommend accumulating if you can hold, not for trading. Cheers |

Apparently new bidders are in the picture, but there should be a penalty clause imposed by the exclusivity with Charon as it is with most exclusivity agreements. so the new offer should be much higher to justify the price Ocbc wants and also to cover the break penalty. Oue could potentially be one of them. This would probably make sense as to why Ocbc didn' t want to take charoen' s offer (assumed). 3.89 is the tangible value of all assets as at 9quarter14 according to Morningstar, full year 14 should be more. You can' t just look at the nav because when a buyer buys, they take the debt. When you buy a company you takeover both their assets and liabilities. Nav deducts the liabilities. Kep corp didn' t tell kep land to pay off all their debts before buying |

It is noon time and I believe we hv seen more clarity on this counter. Here are the reasons why sellers today will regret:- 1) Article in Straits Times on last Saturday mentioned OUE is in talks with UE 2) OCBC is the one who rejected Charoen' s offer which may impy they have a stronger bidder elsewhere hence the confidence 3) Lapse of exclusivity period does not mean Charoen will not continue bidding for UE. Will be different if news article reads Charoen pulls out and 4) Most of the selling today are probably from contra sellers and weak holders. Good luck everyone.

thats not a cool thing to say when its not ur money. plenty of buyers still...as usual, contra players being squeezed out. if can ride it out, this deal will still take place --its just a question of when. From the looks of it, OCBC will not sell it cheaply, that is good and bad.

Will Mr Chang Beer give up just like that? Maybe he' s got other ideas. Go back to drawing board n re-configure his plans maybe. Anyway, UEL' s stated NAV is 2.83. From the way they disposed off assets recently, it shows there are people willing to pay good money for their assets. Eg, UE E& C, NAV 96c, sold for 1.25. I missed the boat for the current round. But will look out to buy if px can go back to 2.40.

i believe there are still people holding on to the stocks while they are away for CNY holidays. plus, UE isnt a company that is losing money but still a profitable company thus far. so even though it was 2.40 prior to this takeover speculation, we should supposedly see some significant price gain from 2.40 regardless of the takeover. |
