http://www.asianewsnet.net/Najib-threatens-news-site-with-lawsuit-60456.html M' sian PM. Najib Razak has given popular online news site Malaysiakini 48-hours to apologise and retract readers' comments on his handling of the political crisis in Terengganu, or face a defamation suit.  It the 1st time a sitting M' sian premier has threatened to sue for defamation. Malaysiakini articles titled " A case of the PM reaping what he sows" and " How much will Najib spend to keep Terengganu?" had compiled readers' comments critical of Najib' s handling of Terengganu crisis. Umno briefly lost its majority in the Terengganu state legislature this week when sacked menteri besar Ahmad Said quit the party on Monday with two other Umno lawmakers, a situation which could have tipped the oil-rich state to the opposition. The crisis was averted 2-days later when the trio returned to Umno, amid speculation such as Malaysiakini and on social media about how the crisis was resolved quickly. Chang Teck Teng, a media industry researcher with Taiwan' s Shih Hsin University, said Malaysian law held news outlets responsible for their readers' comments. " The PM' s main target is not Malaysiakini," he told The Straits Times. " He merely sending a warning to the public and holding Malaysiakini responsible." a move by Najib, in  a form of intimidation. " It stops us from allowing readers to comment freely. A case of rattling the cage to scare the monkeys." Malaysiakini said it is willing to publish a response from Najib, but it will not retract the readers' comments.   |

Tracking aircraft by satellite, cloud storage of black box data and other technological innovations are being considered by aviation officials in the wake of Malaysia Airlines flight MH370' s disappearance. The fate of MH370 has become one of the greatest mysteries in aviation history since it vanished on March 8 during a flight from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing with 239 people on board. Despite a massive international search in the Indian Ocean, no trace of the missing Boeing 777 has been found. The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) is holding a special meeting Monday and Tuesday in Montreal to discuss how to prevent a recurrence of this tragedy as well as the mystery that surrounds it. " Meeting participants will explore the use of existing technologies that may provide the means to support globally track airline flights at a reasonable cost," said a statement. These technologies could allow, for example, basic data such as an aircraft' s position, altitude, speed and course recorded and transmitted via satellite in the event of a sudden change, said the ICAO. French authorities had already lobbied the ICAO to adopt the new standards following the June 2009 crash of an Air France flight from Rio de Janeiro to Paris that killed 228. The jetliner' s black box was not recovered from the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean until 2011, after an exhaustive search of a zone not covered by ground radar. " For the general public, it has become unthinkable that a flight can simply disappear," |

Al-Qaeda-linked outfit, Somalia-based al-Shabab group married into local women Senior operative of Somalia-based al-Shabab grp is in Selangor, the govt' s threat assessment of al-Qaeda-linked outfit is that it has an " unsuccessful footing" , and it has neither set up training camps nor carried out terror missions. However, a major concern on intelligence agencies [email protected] al-Shabab members, who had entered Malaysia under the guise of furthering their studies. Some of them have even married local women. Intelligence and security agencies were on high alert, tracking down the five suspects and determining their real motive for being in the country, a source told the New Straits Times. However, the cell group has yet to enforce its ideology, primarily because of its small membership, a number of whom had entered Malaysia using student and social visit passes. " Interrogation is ongoing. More information is being gathered." The suspect, identified as a key member of al-Shabab and placed on Interpol' s wanted list for alleged involvement in militant activities in East Africa, was found to not be in possession of any weapons after he was detained by CTU in the operation, which was carried out in an undisclosed location. Following surveillance and intelligence gathering, investigators are looking into the possibility of a terror strike on M' sia soil. |

Saturday - HMAS STIRLING NAVAL BASE Australia (Reuters) - Australian naval vessel carrying underwater drone involved in the search for M' sia Airlines -  MH370 left port on  its 2nd mission to scan part of the Indian Ocean where the longest sonar " ping" was heard over a month ago. The Ocean Shield is heading to the area where a signal was first located and heard for some two hours on April 5, about 1,600 km (1,000 miles) northwest of Perth to launch the Bluefin-21 submersible. Search had been centred on a 314-sq-km (121-sq-mile) area around the 2nd " ping" located and monitored for about 13 minutes on April 5, and which search authorities identified as their strongest lead. With the search of that area complete, focus is shifting to the area where the first, and longer, signal was detected the same day, U.S. Navy Captain Mark Matthews told journalists at a naval base near Perth. " What you do is you go look at your best indications and you pursue them until they' re exhausted," he said. " These things don' t happen fast. These searches don' t happen on the hours or days cycle. These happen on the weeks and months cycle." Australia, China and M' sia pledged not to give up searching, though air and surface searches for debris have been abandoned. The Ocean Shield returned to Stirling Naval Base south of Perth after more than a month at sea to resupply, change crew and perform software modifications and maintenance on the Bluefin. The submersible has dived to a maximum depth of 5,005 metres in its daily 20-hour missions to scan ocean floor using sonar, despite being only designed to dive to 4,500 metres, Matthews said. With just 3-weeks left on loan from U.S. Navy, pressure is on how to proceed and who will pay for the next phase of the search. Ocean Shield, which will take 3-days to arrive at the search location, is due back in port by the end of the month. |

teeth53 thot - When AirAsia grow too big...?. http://www.malaysiakini.com/news/261812 Take some blame, AirAsia Welcome back from the weekend of relaxation. 1,000 of passengers stuck@  Low-Cost Carrier Terminal (LCCT) in Sepang without aircon. Its director-general Aloyah Mamat said this occurred because AirAsia refused to move to the new terminal, the KLIA2, on May 2, like the other airlines, and intends to stay at LCCT until May 9. what with AirAsia and the airports operator MAHB, short for Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd, going at each other&rsquo s throats. AirAsia is throwing a huge fuss over the May 9 deadline for the transfer of budget flight operations from the crummy low-cost carrier terminal (LCCT) to its replacement, the so-called &lsquo hybrid&rsquo not-so-low-cost KLIA2. |

https://my.news.yahoo.com/dr-m-racial-pigeonholes-expose-obsolete-views-analysts-045000470.html Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamed&rsquo s  racial stereotyping to defend Malaysia&rsquo s (M,M,M)  pro-Bumiputera policies against US criticism illustrates why the former pM is no longer in power. Cliché s of non-Malay dominance over the economy in face of US President Barack Obama&rsquo s call for equality in Malaysia were symptomatic of a ruling class that is unwilling to yield control of the nation&rsquo s economy, despite evidence that the country&rsquo s race-based affirmative action. &ldquo Despite all the flak people, including me, have given him, we respect his views...there is a reason he is retired and Obama is in power,&rdquo Institute for Democracy and Economic Affairs (Ideas) chief executive Wan Saiful Wan Jan told The Malay Mail Online when contacted. He also warned the govt&rsquo s continued preference for hand-out as billions of ringgit spent on programmes, on  1 M' sia People&rsquo s Aid (BR1M) -  risked addicting recipients to the aid. |

http://www.malaysiakini.com/news/261554 DR M used. Using  own  3M  yardstick, " since  3 sons are rich, then all Malays are rich???&rsquo . " He took 3-days to conjure how to hit back at US President Barack Obama" " so-called wealthy M' sians are a fraction of the population and majority is struggling at the lower levels with stagnated wages" " On Indian doctors and wealthy Chinese is deliberately myopic. For every Indian doctor, there probably are 1,000 displaced estate workers, hardcore poor and disadvantaged. Same with the Chinese, and same with the Malays, although maybe the ratios are different." |

https://sg.news.yahoo.com/dr-m-racial-pigeonholes-expose-obsolete-views-analysts-045000470.html The country&rsquo s longest-serving Ex-pm argued during a book launch this morning that despite preferential treatment for the Bumiputera, the Chinese and Indian communities have had more than enough space to build their wealth and establish themselves in professional lines such as doctors and lawyers. But Centre for Policy Initiatives (CPI) chief Dr Lim Teck Ghee said it was Dr M who was responsible for the elite &ldquo capitalists&rdquo that the latter now complained was dominating the country&rsquo s economy. The outspoken economist said it was &ldquo insulting&rdquo for the former  PM to pin the blame on the non-Malays for the concentration of wealth among select groups, when it was his ruling Barisan Nasional coalition that allegedly nurtured it. |

M' sia Mr 10% Fact. Dr Mahathir, more than any other leader, has been responsible for the predicament of the Malay poor as well as the larger mess in the country today. It was Dr M who not only had authority but also directly pulled the strings when he was PM. &ldquo His economic policy aimed at building up class of super rich, which incidentally includes his son &mdash which accounts for inequality found today.&rdquo Referring to petroleum magnate  Dr M son,  Mokhzani Mahathir who  was of the top-10 richest M' sians this year. Despite the lack of leads in locating flight MH370 after seven weeks, Putrajaya is still not prepared to declare the aircraft and its passengers are lost. The prime minister told CNN that Malaysia was still not prepared to declare the 239 aboard the aircraft are dead out of respect for the next of kin. " At some point in time I would be, but right now I think I need to take into account the feelings of family and loved ones of the passengers. " Some of them have said publicly that they are not willing to accept it until they find hard evidence," Datuk Seri Najib Razak told CNN in an exclusive interview. |
