Those retailers who decide to sell now is too late already. The only option is to hold on and if you have enough bullets you may buy it at a cheap. | ||||

Indeed, that is why SingPost previously diversified into other industries - to build up stable, recurring revenue streams to offset the weakness in its core logistics business. However, they are now selling off these very assets, raising serious questions about the long-term direction of the company. Rather than strengthening or expanding its revenue model, SingPost has chosen to return capital to shareholders.
While special dividends and capital returns may seem attractive in the short term, the real question is this: If SingPost continues to divest its revenue-generating assets, what underlying value remains that would make it a compelling target for privatisation? Unlike SPH, which held a high-quality real estate portfolio that triggered a bidding war during its privatisation, SingPost does not possess such a premium asset base. If the company continues hollowing itself out, shareholders need to ask - what exactly would be left to privatise? Shareholders should be seriously concerned. Divesting core assets while distributing cash is not a growth strategy - it is a path toward financial weakening. This can strain reserves, reduce reinvestment capacity, and ultimately lead to restructuring moves that dilute existing shareholder equity. All of these factors combined lay the groundwork for a potential lowball privatisation offer. To be clear, this is not an attack on SingPost as a company, but a critique of the recent narrative surrounding it. The real damage today was caused by traders, analysts, and large holders who irresponsibly talked up the stock over the past month. Sadly, those who believed the optimism have now become the exit liquidity for those promoting it. So genuinely, I would like to ask this: Aside from the potential gains from divestments, what long-term value do you see in SingPost as a business? What makes it worth holding beyond short-term capital return events? Because once these divestments are completed and the capital is returned, what will drive sustainable growth or re-rating? Based on how the market has responded in similar cases, the share price is unlikely to return to pre-dividend levels, especially if earnings remain weak and asset quality continues to decline.

We cannot ignore the reality that SingPost has monopoly but the public demand for it is gradually decreasing. It may be an option to delist like SPH did before. Just do what you believe in.

Just to be clear - I did not downvote your post.  As of now, still not vested in this yet.  You do realise that those non-core assets are the ones providing stable recurring revenue for SingPost right? How will SingPost or shareholders like you benefit from divesting them away? Yes, capital can be returned to shareholders but the share price will drop correspondingly - it is a zero sum game. Without stable recurring revenue, this is like a ship floating aimlessly on the ocean. As you have mentioned, you see little potential for a successful pivot so your focus is on capital distribution - what is the end game? SingPost dropping to record lows? How will the share price recover after dividends if there are no growth catalyst at all?

Whether you choose to hold for special dividends or sell depends on your investment strategy&mdash both approaches are valid. Regarding your last question about SingPost&rsquo s future, I see little potential for a successful pivot. Given the challenges, the most prudent course of action should be to gradually sell all non-core assets to give back to shareholders. Nothing else matter.

That is if you remove the sale gain proceeds, the company is making a loss from the operating business.

Just hope that it would recover fast.  Very confusing result net profit with underlying losses.  What does it mean?

This headless chicken is one of the most laughing stock 😂 , after announcing special dividend of 9c, it' s share dropped more than 9%.. This is the 1st world stock exchange we have! 😔 likely retailers r easily manipulated by BBs. I think it' s better for Singpost to sell all assets n distribute to shareholders!  | ||||

As mentioned earlier, the special dividend is only $0.09 (More than what I expected). So many were aiming for $0.12 or more. Even analysts wanted at least $0.10. It is clear that the BOD are trying to keep their jobs and placate shareholders by declaring $0.09 in special dividends. Now the main focus is - Can SingPost pivot elsewhere with little cash? Catalysts are running out, divestment is not a long term solution.
