With effect from today (March 1), foreigners can only purchase property in Malaysia at or above RM1 million (S$387,000). Malaysia's Economic Planning Unit said the new ruling is in line with the 2014 Budget announced in October last year by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak. |

Johor MB: RM1mil floor price for foreigners buying properties effective May 1   GELANG PATAH: The RM1mil floor price announced in Budget 2013 for foreigners buying properties in Malaysia will only take effect from May 1.   Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Mohamed Khaled Nordin said that the new ruling would not affect developers who had received the planning approval for their projects before the date.   He said this would give more time for developers to sell residential properties offered to foreign buyers at the previous minimum floor price of RM500,000 per unit.   ?If we don?t give them more time, they (developers) will have problems selling the properties at the old price hence there will be a property glut,?? Mohamed Khaled said on Saturday.   He said this in a press conference at the pre-launch of 351 units of affordable houses priced between RM80,000 and RM150,000 per unit by UEM Sunrise Bhd here.   The company had also pledged to build 10,000 units of affordable houses, which would be located in Gerbang Nusajaya and to be launched in phases from this year onwards.   Effective March 1, foreigners buying properties in Kuala Lumpur, Labuan and Putrajaya have to pay RM1mil ceiling price, up from RM500,000 per unit previously.   The Economic Planning Unit in a statement released on Friday said in other states, the actual enforcement date was subject to the respective state authorities.   Asked whether the presence of international property developers in Iskandar Malaysia, especially from China, would create a glut in the property market in Johor, Mohamed Khaled said it was unlikely to happen.   He admitted there were concerns by some parties about the large-scale development projects by international property developers offering thousands of units of residential properties in one go.   ?But, you must understand these are big players with strong financial background and we believe that they are able to sustain their projects and sell off their products,?? said Mohamed Khaled.     http://www.reuters.com/article/2014/02/28/malaysia-property-idUSL3N0LX3YH20140228     |

Khalid seems to move faster than Anwar and going by chronology of events and this has got Anwar worried.
Anwar may strike a deal with Khalid for the coming party elections in April and this may see incumbent deputy president Azmin Ali ?displaced? if Azmin does not make any move to strengthen his position or rather his ties with Anwar. |

Khalid does not seem to be worried about his seemingly precarious position with the threat of Anwar, a true threat, looming over his head after March 23, polling day for Kajang state seat by-election. Sources close to Khalid said he did not want to be tied to anybody after he finished his term, come the next general election. still seem  loyal to PKR and will still be in politics but no longer owe anyone anything,? said one source. |

Khalid?s latest water takeover move has now dampened Anwar?s chances of sustaining or getting higher majority in Kajang, because the electorate seemed appreciative of the deed. Water supply has been a big problem in Selangor, particularly the Kajang folk who are now on water rationing. ?He said he just wanted to do his best, in short, contribute his best for the state and people until the next general election and then stay as MP or assemblyman. ?For now, he fight to defend his menteri besar's post. he  told us that he wanted all his plans to be complete b4 he leaves.? teeth53 thot - Selangor menteri besar's. Khalid is not just to be rubber stamp nor just can be easily push over. |

Up to RM30,000 low-cost housing subsidy for those earning less than RM3,000.....
PUTRAJAYA (Feb 13, 2014): The government will subsidise low-cost houses to a maximum of RM30,000 for those earning below RM3,000 under a new initiative called the MyHome programme that will take off on April 1. Under the scheme, the subsidy amount will depend on the cost of the houses, with the RM30,000 applicable for houses costing RM70,000, with the applicant paying RM40,000. The subsidy will be provided to applicants on a descending scale, according to the cost of the house. Lower subsidies will be provided for houses costing less than RM70,000. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak said the government has allocated RM300 million for the programme, with the houses sold to applicants at prices fixed by state governments. Speaking to reporters after chairing the National Housing Council (NHC) meeting held for the first time here, he said applicants should earn RM3,000 a month or below to qualify for the scheme and will not be allowed to sell the units for 10 years. He said developers can apply to a special committee under the Housing and Local Government Ministry to build the units. ?Once approved, developers can then advertise the units for sale, with the subsidy paid directly to them by the government,? he said. He said this will make it easier for prospective buyers to get a bank loan. The programme will be monitored with room for more houses to be included under the MyHome programme. Najib said those earning RM3,500 or more are eligible to benefit from the PR1MA housing programme. He said the MyHome Exchange programme ? a comprehensive database on the housing sector ? would also be established to enable the NHC to obtain accurate and comprehensive information on the direction being taken by the housing industry. Urban Well-being, Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan, who was present, said the programme would include data on private developers, government housing initiatives such as PR1MA, SPNB, 1MDB and other information related to the National Housing Department. The establishment of the NHC, announced in the 2014 Budget, is aimed at monitoring, coordinating and formulating initiatives to ensure the government?s objective of building one million affordable homes over the next five years.   |

Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi says the safety of foreign investors in Malaysia, particularly Singaporean investors, are guaranteed.
He said the ministry has taken appropriate measures to ensure their safety, especially in Johor. Apart from Malaysia-Singapore diplomatic ties and people-to-people relations, security issue was of utmost importance to the two friendly nations, he said. " There have been concerns among Singaporeans when they travel to Johor Baru due to negative publicity in the Singapore mass media on the perceived low-level safety in Johor. " What we know is that Singaporeans are the biggest investors in Iskandar Malaysia economic corridor and Malaysia must provide the safety and security assurance for their huge investments," he told Bernama in an interview. Ahmad Zahid is in Singapore for a two-day visit that began Thursday. Ahmad Zahid said adequate security measures have also been taken to ensure investors' safety at places they visited in Johor. He said the measures were taken not only in view of the Visit Malaysia Year 2014 and Festival of Malaysia next year. The minister said he has instructed the Johor Police Chief Datuk Mohd Mokhtar Mohd Shariff to brief current and potential investors from Singapore on the safety measures. " We will also bring the Singapore media to Johor Baharu next week to brief them on efforts and programmes being made to convince investors and visitors to Malaysia on their safety. " The visit will be organised in liaison with the Malaysia's High Commission in Singapore," he said. On organised crime, Ahmad Zahid said the rate in Johor was higher than the national rate. " The rate of decline of organised crime at national level is around 8.3 percent but in Johor the rate has increased to 12.7 percent," he said. Ahmad Zahid said there were more than 6,000 policemen in Johor who have been given specific tasks. He said the security measures were taken not only for investors in Johor but also nationwide. - Bernama    |
