Data tells a better story than predicting "20 cents" target based on fake assumptions. CDG can collaborate to integrate its booking app with Meituan or Didi. Whenever Chinese tourist come Singapore, they will book CDG taxis via Meituan or Didi. You think Chinese bother to install Grab or Gojek? The number of taxi driver licence does not equate taxis on the road. I estimate the ratio of taxi licence holders vs registered taxis now is about130,000 vs 16,000. Many PHV drivers hold taxi licences because they were formerly taxi drivers who have jumped ship to PHV.

x 0   x 0  Alert Admin	Heard this fake argument too many times about no commercial prospect for public transport operators, simply because Govt is bearing the risks and footing the bill with taxpayers monies. Nothing wrong with a Govt fixed contract for operating bus service parcels. It is to allow Govt to subsidise public transport, in line with objectives to make it attractive relative to car ownership. There are many profitable businesses that earn fixed fees from their clients, be it from public or private sector. Examples are facility management, waste disposal, security services etc. No commercial operator owes Govt obligation to operate a bus service parcel, if the price is not attractive. But if no company wants to run public transport in Singapore, Govt butt will catch fire from the flames of its citizens complaints. It will then have to pay sufficiently attractive fees to get public transport operator to do the work. If the price is too high, get PTC to raise ticket prices to reduce subsidy. Saying that we can "nationalise" a public transport operator ignores the fact that "govt" drivers and technicians and mgt must still be paid with taxpayers monies. You think "nationalise" means do charity and no need to incur and be accountable for costs? Let the private market create efficiencies from competition instead. Bodes well for CDG. Average less than 200 per month from Jan to Aug. But almost 800 in Sep. Looks like some people prefer to rent taxi instead of use / rent personal car as Grab driver.
