Infectious diseases physician from the Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital, said up to 80% of his patients are now complaining of fever, headache and muscle aches, more than the usual number. Similarly, general practitioner Clinic, said there was a 10% to 15% increase in the number of patients with the common cold and flu during the cooler months of November and December. Advise for folks to carry an umbrella, or to keep a fresh set of clothing in office that they can change into if they get drenched, eating wisely and resting adequately definitely help.

7.3 Earthquake hit late Sunday night with the epicenter in a rural area on the Iranian side of the border, just south of the Iraqi city of Halabja, according to the US Geological. The quake was at a depth of 23 km (just over 14 miles), which is considered shallow, according to the survey. It wasfelt across the region with aftershocks hitting Pakistan, Lebanon, Kuwait and Turkey, news agencies in those countries reported. NOTE: Earthquakes are scored on a logarithmic scale of 1 to 10, so a magnitude 7 represents an earthquake with an amplitude 10 times greater than a magnitude 6. For every number on the scale, ?the associated seismic energy increases by about 32 times,? US Geological Survey explains. |

North Korea?s nuclear test has turned to wasteland and caused defects among newborn babies.
About 80% of trees that are planted die and underground wells have run dry, according to 21 defectors who used to live in Kilju county. ?I heard from a relative, deformed babies were born in hospitals,? a defector claimed, according to Chosun Ilbo newspaper. He added that locals were worried about radioactive contamination. ?I spoke on phone and they told me that all the underground wells dried up after the sixth nuclear test,? referring to the regime?s most recent test in September. Defectors, including one person who claimed to have lived through two nuclear tests in 2006 and 2009, testified that local people were not warned in advance.

In an astonishing hammer blow global industry. Westinghouse, the original developer of workhorse of the global nuclear industry, the pressurized-water reactor (PWR), and for many decades the world&rsquo s largest provider of nuclear technology &mdash filed for bankruptcy after hitting big problems with its latest reactor design, the AP1000.   Largely as a result, its parent coy, Japanese nuclear engineering giant Toshiba, is also in dire financial straits and admits &ldquo substantial doubt&rdquo about its ability to continue as a going concern.       While, France&rsquo s state-owned (EDF), Europe&rsquo s biggest builder and operator of nuclear power plants, is deep in debt thanks to its own technical missteps and could become a victim of the economic and energy policies of incoming President Emmanuel Macron.    Those three companies account for more than half of all nuclear power generation worldwide. Their &ldquo looming insolvency, has set off a chain reaction of events that threatens the existence of nuclear power in the West,&rdquo says Michael Shellenberger, president of the pro-nuclear NGO, Environmental Progress. In nuclear industry. U.S. remains as world&rsquo s largest producer of nuclear power, with about 100 commercial reactors in operation. |

A self promoter for a unclear floating plant in Singapore water. Singapore's energy needs:"was thinking at having a unclear floating plant platform. Put a nuclear station there and, if it blows, then we move it a few kilometres away from us and has had accidents at Three Mile Island, Chernobyl and Fukushima. Tragic though they were, provided engineers with valuable lessons as well as folks will suffer. The last link in the events leading to meltdown of the reactors was the loss of cooling water needed to remove the decay heat after the shutdown of the reactor. Authored by Matthew Jamison via The Strategic Culture Foundation,
With the nuclear standoff between North Korea and the United States having heated up significantly over the summer, it has been the Governments of Russia and China who have sought to be the responsible, mature and wise international parties at the United Nations and throughout the international community.
It has been the brilliant diplomacy of Moscow and Beijing who have been the voices urging restraint, calm and dialogue unlike the insane, ridiculous and totally counter-productive rhetoric of the American President Donald Trump and the US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley.
The leaders of Russia and China must be given a strong round of applause for trying to avert a nuclear holocaust on the Korean peninsula whilst upholding international law, attempting to avoid a nuclear war and advocating for multi-party dialogue with the resumption of the 6 Party Talks {which have been in abeyance since 2009} and a cooling off period on the Korean peninsula with the suspension of the US-South Korea military exercises. This is the right policy going forward for the welfare, safety and security of the Korean peninsula as well as regional and international peace and stability. The wrong course of action and the wrong policies of handling North Korea and the Kim Jong Un regime have been consistently followed by the Trump administration and its allies on the UN Security Council.
The American policy of constantly aggravating North Korea with US-South Korea joint military exercises designed to unsettle, disturb and provoke the North is counter-productive and has only increased tensions and the possibility of all out war in Korea which would be a complete disaster and must not be allowed to happen. The American policy of deploying THAAD has also been like a red rag to a bull in North Korea and again only adds to increasing tensions ans the likelihood of armed conflict. While Russia and China have been working with great effort to calm the situation down with the restoration of dialogue, cooperation and stability it has been unfortunately the Governments of the United States and to a certain degree President Trump's ally in British "prime" minister Theresa May who have actually in reality been increasing tensions, escalating the situation, antagonising the North Koreans and not helping to decrease tensions and deescalate the situation.
To be clear North Korea is also completely in the wrong and it is the prime actor that must stop its nuclear tests and enter into talks. Yet it is very difficult for the North to enter into the 6 Party Talks when the United States will not countenance such talks. One could also mount an argument that the only reason the North Korean regime is behaving this way and seeking nuclear weapons is to preserve its own security as it in all likelihood feels extremely threatened especially in light of what happened with regards to Iraq during 2002-2003 and beyond and Libya after 2003.
The rhetoric of the Trump administration whether it be from the President himself or his Defence Secretary Mattis or UN Ambassador Haley has not been helpful and has been full of hyperbole, no doubt sabre rattling, but still it simply inflames and escalates an already difficult, tense and fragile international and regional security and humanitarian headache.
Imagine if the situation where reversed and it was Mexico on the United States' southern border acting in this way. Do you really think the American Government would want to deal with the fall out on its own door step of a nuclear obliterated Mexico and the tremendous ecological, environmental and human damage that would create. I doubt it very much that the United States would take the same approach to such a situation if the rogue party playing up was right on its own southern border.
With regards to the role that the United Kingdom Government is playing, hopefully, it is a constructive role with the aim to help reduce tensions and deescalate the nuclear crisis on the Korean Peninsula not increase and exacerbate what is already a very delicate situation. Time alone will tell if the current British "prime" minister Theresa May is fully committed to such a course and is actually exerting (what little influence and leverage) she may have over her new found best friend from January President Trump. Mrs. May made great hay out of her early visit to hold hands with Donald Trump a week after he was sworn in. Let the international community see now the Anglo-American "special relationship" in action with the UK prime minister persuading the American President to change tack.

The most-watched collapse site - a school where 19 children were killed last week - was built illegally on a site reserved for housing.
Mexico City's mayor, the education minister, and top official for the district all traded blame after reports that the Enrique Rebsamen primary school operated using false documents.
The govt has also come in for criticism from anguished families of people still missing after Tuesday's earthquake.
"All they tell us are lies that they're working on it, said Anel Jimenez, 42, whose cousin Martin Estrada, a 30-yr-old accountant, was inside a 7-story office building when it collapsed.
"No one from govt has come to show their face. They just send low-profile officials who always have clean helmets and shiny shoes. They come to see what they can get out of other people's pain."
Rescue workers have now wrapped up their efforts at all but five sites in Mexico City, and the chances of pulling any more survivors from the rubble are dim.
The building where Estrada's cousin was, at 286 Alvaro Obregon Ave in trendy Roma neighborhood, is now the main search site. It crumpled into a tangled heap of concrete and steel with 132 people inside.
29 people were rescued alive from the building in the first days and no survivors have been found since.
Mexico City of 20 million people, the capital's notorious traffic jams were starting to appear again.
Of the capital's 8,700 schools, 103 reopened on today, the education ministry said. The rest were due to resume classes in the coming days, after undergoing architectural inspections.
The state was shocked by the primary school collapse that killed 19 children and seven adults and an aftershock of Sept 7 quake that shook Mexico City on Saturday has made the country all the more jittery.
The sense of vulnerability has only been heightened by the fact that Tuesday's earthquake struck on the anniversary of a 1985 quake that killed more than 10,000 people, the worst in Mexican history.
Mexico is particularly earthquake-prone, sitting atop five tectonic plates

Two more strong new earthquake shook Mexico on Saturday, toppling already damaged homes and a highway bridge and causing new alarm in a country reeling from two even more powerful quakes.
This month that together have killed nearly 400 people. It was among thousands of aftershocks recorded in the wake of that earlier quake, which was the most powerful to hit Mexico in 32 years that killed at least 90 people.

An earthquake of magnitude 6.1 has been detected off Japan coast.
The earthquake struck about 175 miles south east of Kamaishi, and around 200 miles east of Fukushima.
Three major earthquake to strike around Pacific rim in the last 24 hours - following one in  Mexico  that
measured a magnitude of 7.1, while another 6.1 magnitude earthquake stuck New Zealand.
The depth of the earthquake, which struck at 2.37am local time, was measured at 10km.
Details of any damage are yet to emerge, and no tsunami warning has yet been issued.
A tsunami sparked by an earthquake in the Pacific hit the nuclear plant in Fukushima in 2011 causing a major disaster -
with the water disabling the emergency generators required to cool the reactors at the plant after they had automatically shut down.
Residents of the area were evacuated, and an exclusion zone was set up.
The zone was eventually made smaller and residents have recently been allowed to return to some areas.
The incident led Japan to close all 54 of its nuclear plants for a time, while five are now back online.

The death toll from the earthquake is reported to have risen to 250 people as another body was recovered from the Enrique Rebsamen school.
Rescue workers have recovered the body of a woman from the ruins of the school in southern Mexico City where a child has been detected alive.
The Mexican Navy issued a statement early Thursday saying the 58-year-old woman had worked at the Enrique Rebsamen school.
At least 26 people are known to have died at the primary and secondary school, which was one of scores of buildings across central Mexico that collapsed in Tuesday?s magnitude 7.1 quake.
