x 0   x 1  Alert Admin	Correct me if I am wrong, they have been trying to sell that piece since early this year (like around March).      When the news came out, there was a spike in the price.    But there' s nothing really exciting about UE E & C, I supposed there was' nt a good price  offered.    Southern Cap is now to pay $230mln, hence it would be a shot in the arm for UE to  collect cash.    This sale is on top of the Wearnes Automotives (Jaguars, Bentley  and other luxury  cars)  for $455mln.    Well done UE board of Directors,  really fantastic corporate finance peeps, all  get  A stars.    They have made UE into a property company with  solid commercial properties and land. Actually ThaiBev only has less than 30% of F& N.        Not sure if the ops are inter linked, anyone can enlighten us? But based on purely 30% ownershsip, the loss of the Myanmar biz would have little impact on Thai Bev.  Why ppl want to short Thai Bev?    Something I missed?  Kyoto2008      ( Date: 08-Nov-2014 12:21) Posted: A public listed co can be cornered if the float is small, those stocks with 5 cents 10 cents are easier to corner and we see them frequently  as top vol stocks. Thai Bev is a $20bln co, vol on 3rd Nov was about 50mln shares traded and the drop in price was 4.5 cents.          That means the manipulator spent $2.25mln to push the price back up, then continue to keep on spending every day to support price.    What happened if 10% of the shareholders want to sell and the price collapses further down as the shortists expected?      The manipulator would have gone bankrupt.    This was exactly what happend to Thailand in 1997, the Central Bank went to buy to support the Thai baht and broke the country' s piggy bank.        Also look at Osim.    If any manipulator try to push the price up, they would easily be bankrupted, too many sellers rushing to dispose of the stock.        If it' s so easy to manipulate the stock price, many cos would play this game rather than work hard to earn  legitimate income.    Frasers, I' ve not looked at the stock closely so I don really know what' s going on.

x 0   x 0  Alert Admin	As a cynic, I have this hypothesis.  With easy availability of sophisticated software, manipulators can simply work backwards, ie, put the cart before the horse so to speak, by creating the desired chart patterns and trade according to them to hoodwink unsuspecting investors and traders.  . x 0   x 0  Alert Admin	Take a look at FCT' s chart, the stock has been on the upswing.    Even after ex-dividend, the price went down but shot up the following day and has been moving up. My suspicion is the Thais are in the know, and the price upswing reflects insiders doing trading.
