No lah. When something is oversubscribed you will not receive much excess shares. Only your allotted shares plus any rounding up odd lots. That' s all. Those few shares you may get comes from those who never subscribe. Since oversubscribed, u won' t get much excess.

wonder if I understand correctly. preferential offering, valid acceptances and excess applications for around 196.8 million new units. sponsor had applied for 50.8 million excess preferential offering new units. exclude sponsor applications the applications by others is 146.8 million out of 133.9 million. exclude sponsor applications the over subscription is 12.9 miĺ lion or less than 10%. those applied in excess will most likely have it almost fully filled.

Ascendas Reit preferential offering oversubscribed raises S$396.5m
 
ASCENDAS Real Estate Investment Trust' s (Ascendas Reit) preferential offering was oversubscribed, raising gross proceeds of around S$396.5 million, its manager said Thursday night in an exchange filing.
 
The offering was part of an equity fundraising exercise, announced last month, alongside a private placement that raised about S$800 million. This brings total gross proceeds for the fundraising to around S$1.2 billion.
 
In the preferential offering, there were valid acceptances and excess applications for around 196.8 million new units, around 1.5 times the total of 133.9 million units available.
 
Valid acceptances amounted to around 79.2 per cent of the total available units, while excess applications accounted for 67.7 per cent. The preferential offering new units, which were not validly accepted, will be allotted to satisfy applications for the excess units, with preference given to rounding of odd lots, the manager said.
 
The preferential offering was done on the basis of 37 new units for every 1,000 existing units held at the record date of Nov 18, 5pm.
 
The Reit' s sponsor and manager, who collectively owned an aggregate of around 19.2 per cent of total units in issue have accepted in full their provisional allotments of around 25.7 million new units.
 
The sponsor had applied for 50.8 million excess preferential offering new units to demonstrate its support. However, as the preferential offering was oversubscribed, the sponsor will not be allotted any excess preferential offering new units.
 
Around 133.9 million new units will be issued at S$2.96 per unit. The new units are expected to be listed and quoted on the mainboard of the Singapore Exchange from 9am on Dec 9.

BBro, The  issuing manager was trying very hard to hold the price above 2.96, or in the rabge of 2.96 - 3.05 during this period. So, would the price hold by itself after this period? Panda a bit doubful and do not want to gamble on such uncertainity. Preseve the capital for shopping later at bargained price on A-REIT if it falls, or other stocks. " Don' t give up the whole forest just because of one tree" .

Ascendas Reit opens preferential offering completes US office acquisition
 
ASCENDAS Real Estate Investment Trust' s (Ascendas Reit) preferential offering to unitholders has launched at 9am on Monday and will close at 5pm on Dec 1.
 
The manager on Monday said it expects the trading of the new preferential offering units to start on Dec 9.
 
Two weeks ago, it announced that the preferential offering' s issue price had been fixed at S$2.96 per new unit. That represented a 7.8 per cent discount to the volume-weighted average price (VWAP) of S$3.2096 for trades done on Nov 9 up to the time the underwriting agreement was signed on Nov 10.
 
The preferential offering will be done on the basis of 37 new units for every 1,000 existing units held at Nov 18 at 5pm.
 
It is expected to raise gross proceeds of about S$396.5 million, and is part of a S$1.2 billion equity fundraising to partially finance potential and proposed acquisitions of office buildings and data centres in the US, Europe, Australia.
 
The total purchase price for these acquisitions is estimated at S$2 billion, the manager said earlier this month.
 
Among the acquisitions is the US$560.2 million purchase of two office buildings in San Francisco. The Reit manager on Saturday announced that it has completed this deal.
 
The two US properties - a seven-storey building at 510 Townsend Street and a six-storey building at 505 Brannan Street - are fully leased to payments giant Stripe and image-sharing platform Pinterest.
 
Following the completion of the US acquisition, Ascendas Reit now owns 96 properties in Singapore, 36 in Australia, 38 in the UK and 30 in the US.

For each 1000 shares, you get 37 shares only. Also, you will end up with odd lots. I hate to be in such situation. It is always good to buy shares at a discount but I will forgo the discount since it is just a small amount. You may proceed if you own a lot of Ascendas shares.
