As always, this can happen again in late Feb/early March 2013, after those ugly fight. Congress will have to pass yet another continuing resolution to avoid a temporary shutdown

1. Selling all the Federal Gold reserved. 2. Greater expansion of GDP, especially, mutual trade to PRC and Japan. 3. Drastic change to Saving mind set for every US citizen. The above might probably change the Fiscal cliff negative effect to the global economy, also benefit to US economy and employment growth in the long run! (just my two cents idea at a glance)

America's Debt Challenge and the fiscal cliff provisions are wide-ranging. The middle class, for instance, could see the 2% payroll tax holiday disappear. So someone making $50,000 might get about $83 less a month in their paychecks. The alternative minimum tax, which could strike roughly 28 million people, many of whom are in the middle-class.
