At 4.59pm, she was trading at the Day Low at 2.73 : 2.74 but come pre-closing, all the wolf packs and hyena packs came rushing out to grab their share of the fresh kill and their free-for-all feasting pushed the price back up to close at 2.76, the Day High. NABEH. Want to buy lower nearer to 2.66 also no chance when the stock you are eyeing is preyed on by so many other hungry wolves and hyenas.

Ascendas is now at 2.73 : 2.74. She has pulled back to reach the high end of my recommended BUY RANGE of 2.66 to 2.73. 2.73 is where her 50-ema currently is. No hurry to buy now.... looking at the price action and market sentiments out there. Can wait some more. I am waiting.

Last High was 2.86 established on 29 Jan 2018. Her chart shows that whenever she was trading at above all 3 EMAs and she fell, she would find support after dipping below her 50-ema or at her 200-ema. 50-ema at 2.73. 200-ema at 2.66. Now 2.74 : 2.75. I hope to see 2.66. Hope is one thing. Whether she will go there is another thing. When this pullback ends, she will revisit Last High at 2.86. So even for those who bought at 2.75 now, their upside is 11 cts. She will find her bottom some time in February. Be patient. If can buy at 2.66, upside is 20 cts. She will be paying 2 quarters of dividends at the next reporting season in April 2018. Of the 4 Musketeers, I recommend an OVERWEIGHT bias for Ascendas.

 One way is to use trendline support. Reading off the chart, the floor of the uptrend channel appears to be at 2.75. This is where the stock may find support to rebound from. Another way is to use the 20-ema, 50-ema and 200-ema to look for support.  If you look at the areas marked A and B, whenever the stock fell from above her 20-ema, the price found support after dipping slightly below the 50-ema. If you look at the area marked C, the price found support only when it was near the 200-ema. And at the area marked D, the price found support after dipping below the 20-ema. Currently, the EMAs are at : 20-ema - 2.77 50-ema - 2.74 200-ema - 2.66 She is doing 2.77 : 2.78 now. See whether she can bounce off the 20-ema at 2.77 or if she needs to dip lower. Looking at the price action and the timeline, I think we can look at 2.66 to 2.73.

No problem, General Casar. There are 3 other REITs worth looking at. These 3 and Ascendas REIT... I call them The 4 Musketeers. And why so? Becoz over the last 2 years, I noticed that all 4 of them move together in the same direction in tandem. It is really a case of One For All And All For One. The other 3 Musketeers are : CapitalMall Trust CapitaComm Trust Suntec REIT Although Ascendas is not paying dividend this quarter and hence does not have an XD date, the other 3 Musketeers have their XDs on 30th Jan and 31st Jan. Ascendas REIT will behave as if she has an XD date too on 31st Jan. This would had been the actual XD date if she is paying dividend this quarter. Both CapitaComm Trust and Ascendas REIT reported results on the same day. And XD date for CapitaComm Trust is on 31 Jan 2018. After the Musketeers trade XD, I expect to see a dip. How much dip we will see is the one million dollar question. Some times, the dip was hardly a dip. Other times, the dip was quite a dip. We dont get to pick the type of dip to have. The Musketeers will do what they like. We can only follow them down and patiently wait for them to dip until we come to this sign. Then we move in to BUY.  There will be a dip in February for all 4 Musketeers. Our next task is to catch the LOWs of that dip.

This stock is not trading at CD now. So there is no XD for the dividend declared for the Oct to Dec 2017 quarter. At the next reporting in Apr 2018, she will declare dividend and trade at CD after that. If you buy when she is trading at CD or you already own the stock and you hold till XD, you are entitled to the dividend for 2 quarters... the Oct to Dec 2017 quarter and the Jan to Mar 2018 quarter. So if you are buying for dividends, wait till late-Apr when she report results and dividend and trade at CD. But there is a better way to play this stock. Between now and XD in late-Apr 2018, she will have one dip followed by a rise. Some times two. That dip will find a bottom some time in February and then she will recover. Some times, after dipping, she trades sideways for a while first. Then recover. Keep a lookout for that dip and buy when she pulls the handbrake. You will get a better entry price if you buy at this dip. If you wait till say, mid-Apr to buy just before she is due to report her results and dividend at around 24th to 26th Apr, you will be late and would have missed the LOWs of Feb to Mar.

since Ascendas now pay its dividend bi-annually, i was wondering whether if i only buy the shares sometime in Mar-18 (after ex-div for the Dec-17 quarter results), will i get both the dividend for the Dec-17 and the Mar-18 financial results? If i can only get dividend for the Mar-18 quarterly results, then does it mean that those people who sell off the share after the ex-div for the Dec-17 quarter results will still get the dividend sometime later in Apr/May 2018? |
