Hot stock: F J Benjamin' s 31.88% share price surge prompts query from SGXHE share price of fashion retailer F J Benjamin (FJB) surged 31.88 per cent on Tuesday, prompting a query from the Singapore Exchange (SGX) on the unusual price movement. The company' s stock was up 31.88 per cent, climbing 2.2 Singapore cents to 9.1 Singapore cents as at 11.15am. FJB' s stock traded at a three-month low of 3.7 Singapore cents. On Oct 23, the retailer announced a rights cum warrants issue to raise up to S$39 million. About S$12 million will be raised through the issue of 341.2 million new shares at S$0.035 each on the basis of three rights shares for every five existing shares. The warrants have a three-year exercise period, and will have an exercise price of S$0.04 per warrant. If fully exercised, it will raise another S$27 million. In its latest earnings report, FJB reported its net loss for the fiscal year ended June 30 narrowed to S$17.42 million from S$22.96 million amid a drop in revenue. The group' s turnover slipped 18 per cent to S$207.49 million mainly due to the discontinuation of businesses and a decrease in sales to an Indonesian associate.
