Shocking new report: Underestimated Fukushima' s triple meltdown on risk of cancer in exposed populations, not just Japan, but arguably the whole world.

A new report from Fairewinds Energy Education (FEE), " Cancer on the Rise in Post-Fukushima Japan," reveals that the ongoing multi-core nuclear meltdown at the Fukushima Daiichi plant that started in March 2011 has produced approximately 230 times higher than normal thyroid cancers in Fukushima Prefecture, and could result in as many as one million more cancers in Japan' s future as a result of the meltdown.

According to the new report, data provided by a group of esteemed Japanese medical professionals and TEPCO, confirm a direct link of numerous cancers in Japan to the triple meltdown. As transcribed by Enenews.com, Arnie Gundersen, chief engineer at Fairewinds stated,

" It' s been almost 5 years from the Fukushima Daiichi meltdowns, and the news from Japan is still not good.

Two reports recently released in Japan, one by Japanese medical professionals and the second from Tokyo Power Corporation &ndash TEPCO &ndash acknowledged that there will be numerous cancers in Japan, much greater than normal, due to the radioactive discharges from the triple meltdown at Fukushima Daiichi...

I believe, as do many of my colleagues, that there will be at least 100,000 and as many as one million more cancers in Japan' s future as a result of this meltdown... [T]he second report received from Japan proves that the incidence of thyroid cancer is approximately 230 times higher than normal in Fukushima Prefecture...

So what' s the bottom line? The cancers already occurring in Japan are just the tip of the iceberg. I' m sorry to say that the worst is yet to come."

TOKYO (AFP) - High levels of toxic chemicals were found in groundwater tests at a new facility, Tokyo' s Tsukiji fish market - the world' s largest - clouding the costly relocation plan, news reports said on Saturday (Jan 14).

The controversial project has been delayed over fears about toxic contamination, which also impacted the 2020 Olympics to be hosted by the Japanese capital.

The megacity' s new governor, Yuriko Koike, has said she would postpone the move originally set for November last year, as she awaits final groundwater testing results at the new site, a former gas plant.

The relocation plan has been marred by problems, including the discovery that contractors had inexplicably failed to fill in a basement at the new site with clean soil as a buffer against underground pollution.

Results of the final testing showed levels of toxic materials, including benzene, detected in underground water at the new site were above nationally set limits.

It came after the previous test also showed high levels of mercury were found inside the facility' s basement.

Plans to uproot the more than 80-year-old market, a popular tourist attraction.

Dec. 29. A 6.3-magnitude earthquake centered near Takahagi, Japan, caused few injuries but shook structures and caused buildings nearby Tokyo to sway, officials said.

It struck Ibaraki prefecture on Japan' s eastern coast on Wed night and likely was an aftershock of a 9-magnitude earthquake in the area in 2011,

The prefecture is the site of two nuclear power plants regulators said. No tsunami warning was given, and a tsunami did not occur.

Japan Meteorological Agency said. The temblor shattered windows at a school and two people sustained minor injuries.

Search and rescue efforts after an earthquake in Indonesia' s Aceh province killed at least 97 people have been hampered by nightfall and poor weather conditions, officials said.

Key points:

The quake struck just before dawn in the regency of Pidie Jaya, about 120 kilometres south-east of the city of Banda Aceh.

The pre-dawn quake was felt for about 15 seconds and by the time it was over around 100 buildings had collapsed including 72 combined shops and dwellings, 15 houses, five mosques, a petrol station and a schoMajor General Tatang Suliaman told local media the toll had jumped to 97 after rescuers pulled more bodies from the rubble &mdash the death toll had previously been reported as He said there could be four or five people still buried, but did not say whether they were alive.

" Hopefully we would be able to finish the evacuation from the rubble before sunset," he said.

The local hospital in Pidie Jaya was damaged, and survivors are being sent to Banda Aceh for treatment.

Tremors were felt across Singapore after a 6.5-magnitude earthquake was recorded off the Indonesian island of Sumatra on Thursday (Jun 2).

The Meteorological Service Singapore (MSS) said the earthquake was detected at 6.56am.

Quake' s epicentre was about 517km from S' pore, adding that there was no tsunami advisory. CNA received at least 7-reports of tremors felt across S' pore.

People reported feeling tremors in areas including Bukit Panjang, Siglap, Punggol and Toa Payoh.

Siglap resident Anya Kothary said she felt tremors in her home on the 13th floor. &ldquo The tremors were quite strong and lasted for a few minutes,&rdquo she said.

Twitter user Juck, who lives in Punggol, tweeted that he felt a &ldquo huge tremor&rdquo and that his &ldquo whole floor was shaking&rdquo .

Some Twitter users posted videos of their lights swaying during the tremors.

Fukushima Plant: Fish Detected 124 Times Highly Radioactive, Cancer More Prevalent in Japan in Next 50 Years?

Fish caught in waters near the crippled Fukushima nuclear plant have been detected 124 times highly radioactive than the accepted limit, a report by the Asahi Shimbun said.

The Fisheries Research Agency, a Japanese govt-affiliated research institute, revealed over the weekend that a fish called black sea bream caught at the mouth of Niidagawa river in Iwaki, Fukushima Prefecture contained 12,400 becquerels per kilogram of radioactive cesium. It was way 124 times over the safety standards for foodstuffs.

The fish was caught Nov 17 at 37 kilometres south of the power plant. Close to 40 pieces of black sea bream were caught at that time. This particular type of fish is no longer sold at fish markets in the radiation affected region.

Two other fishes contained radiation levels, 426 becquerels per kilogram and 197 becquerels per kilogram.

Authorities from the Fisheries Research Agency said it will undertake further studies to establish when exactly were the fishes got stained by the high levels of radioactive cesium.

I'm not saying that it is great, I mean there will be some risk to these people, and particularly the risk is from ingestion of radionuclide particles and not so much from the dilute stuff, the stuff that is in solution.

The main risk will be to the people of Japan, and it'll be people who live along the coastline of Eastern Japan who will be greatly at risk," he said.

Mr Busby said mortality statistics will greatly change in Northern Japan, noting there might arise 400-800 extra cancers in Japan in the next 50-years.

So I think this is just going to get worse. I think we are going to see a major effect on the general health of the Japanese population in Northern Japan.

There's going to be a decrease in the birth rate and an increase in the death rate," he said

Radioactivity Contaminates Tokyo Vegetable, Water in Six Prefectures

TOKYO - March 24, 2011 Radiation above the legal limit has been detected in a vegetable grown in Tokyo, Japan's health ministry said. This is the first time that elevated levels of radioactive cesium have been found in a Tokyo vegetable since the damaged Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant began spewing radioactivity into Japan's air, water and soil.

The nuclear plant operated by Tokyo Electric Power was damaged during the 9.0 magnitude earthquake and tsunami on March 11. Loss of power to the plant and failure of emergency backup generators caused loss of cooling water to the nuclear fuel in four of the plant's six reactors. Several explosions of radioactive hydrogen gas and two fires in spent fuel pools released radiation over a wide area.

The health ministry says radioactive cesium was detected in a leafy vegetable called komatsuna, or mustard spinach, sampled from a research field in Edogawa ward on Wednesday. The contaminated vegetable is not for sale in markets.

The health ministry says that level of radioactivity would not have an adverse effect on health, even if the vegetable was eaten.

Tokyo Metropolitan Got has lifted its advice against giving tap water to infants in Tokyo's 23 wards and 5 adjacent cities.

Governments of Fukushima, Ibaraki, Chiba, Saitama and Tochigi prefectures have detected more than 100 becquerels of iodine per liter of water, above the safety level for infants under 12 months.

The water is considered to be safe for adults to drink.

The mortality rate of elderly people who were in retirement facilities near the nuclear plant has reportedly tripled.

There has also been reported increases in the number of children with flat feet, thought to be the result of kids playing on radiated soil.
