not sure if you notice blackgold, on the day of weak buy .... the buying went up slowly to the buy price only to be dump at the last min when closing. Just my 2 cent no holding interest.

Just took a quick look at Chasen' s financials as this company is starting to interest me... Seems Chasen' s largest revenue exposure is in China, US, and SG. Looking at their FY16 annual report, the $3m net loss seems to be due to high ' other operating expenses' in FY16 ($4.5m) compared to FY15 ($600k). Digging deeper, Chasen had put aside $2m in allowances for doubtful receivables and had $1.7m in forex losses (presumably from their China-based revenue, given the yuan depreciation in 2016). Also, gross profit margin declined from 20.9% in FY15 to 18.3% in FY16 as revenue dipped though cost of sales also fell. This raises a couple of questions: 1) Is Chasen doing enough due diligence to ensure their customers can pay for services rendered, though $2m seems like a small amount compared to $93m in FY16 revenue? 2) Chasen' s biggest contract secured this year is the RMB245m contract to Chasen Hi-Tech announced in their 23 March disclosure the $50m SGD implies an exchange rate assumption of 1SGD to 4.9RMB. From the $1.7m forex loss in their FY16 report, there is clearly some forex risk associated with their Chinese-based revenue if the yuan continues to devalue in 2017/18, it will erode the revenue from this contract. However, I do see a couple of things I like on their FY16 balance sheet, which is the presence of treasury shares and $12m in retained profit which I think is a good buffer on top of $11.8m cash/equivalents on hand. In terms of securing contracts, Chasen has secured $72m worth of contracts between January and now, although the $50m from the China contract spans into 2018 therefore we can assume Chasen can book $22m of that revenue for FY2017 and $50m of revenue for FY2018 (depending on payment terms), which I think is promising considering it' s only April - there should be more contracts to come especially in Vietnam where it' s gaining ground. Nonetheless, I will be keeping a closer eye on Chasen (not least due to its huge climb this month from 5c to 13.3c). Cheers to all and congrats to those who vested at 5c and below! |

Long term yes . It has a nav of 18.6c in the last FR . With 71.6 million worth of new contracts, nav will definitely be much more than 13.5c now. It's only Q1 now , there is going to be more contracts to announce . I like the management . They don't NATO, they secure contracts and give dividend whenever possible . Good company.
