I can't say much abt whether the current price is still attractive because market is always forward looking.
But I sold off my lots alr this afternoon. Bcos current PE is at 55x . Even with strong earnings growth this year, at most PE reduce to 30x. Comfort at less than 17x and their earnings growth more certain :) Furthermore they own rails and buses too. If gov implements the cost plus model, comfort wld directly benefit too :)

Market speculate nationalization or the incoming implementation of cost plus model for smrt.
In my opinion, privatization highly unlikely but not ruled out.

WHY THE SMRT PRICE SURGE? : LIM & TAN SECURITIES SMRT&rsquo s share price yesterday surged strongly by 18.5% to $1.215 on an unusually high volume of 14.6 mln shares, prompting a query from the Singapore Exchange (SGX). While there were various market speculations such as an impending fare hike, successful negotiation with LTA regarding the new rail-fi nancing framework or even nationalization by the government, SMRT later replied that it was not aware of any reasons that could pos...sibly explain the trading in its securities. Due to the abnormal trading activities, SGX has thus advised shareholders and potential investors to trade with caution. SMRT will be releasing its FY03/14 financial results on 30 April 2014. |
