With the new direction on credit to 1st timer property buyers in Chna, propertycounters and banks in China are looking positive..... also, as usual the property speculators will fully maximise this direction by the government to maximise profit by taking advantage of the loopholes. afterall, China is home to 1.4 billions people and home to rules bending.

Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen will give an address in Washington, with data on U.S. inflation, factory output and the jobs market due. Investors resumed selling Internet and smaller stocks in New York trading as speculation that global policy makers will push ahead with stimulus efforts supported bonds. &ldquo Markets will largely ignore the swathe of incoming data in favor of watching Fed Chair Yellen address the U.S. Chamber of Commerce,&rdquo Raiko Shareef, a markets strategist in Wellington at Bank of New Zealand Ltd., wrote in an e-mail to clients. &ldquo Mounting inflationary pressure will force the Fed to reassess its outlook for low rates and may prompt the market to price in a higher chance of rate hikes by the middle of 2015.&rdquo Bank StocksThe Topix retreated from a more than five-week high, while the Nikkei 225 Stock Average dropped 1.2 percent. Mizuho Financial Group Inc. lost 1 percent after leading Japan&rsquo s three largest banks yesterday in predicting a drop in earnings for this year. Mizuho said net income may drop 20 percent from a record, while Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group Inc., which fell 0.9 percent today, forecast a 3.5 percent decrease. Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group Inc. projected a decline of 19 percent for the year and was down 3.8 percent today. Nickel dropped to $19,739 a metric ton. The metal slid 4.6 percent on the London Metal Exchange yesterday, halting a six-day advance. Inventories of nickel tracked by the LME have risen 6.6 percent since December, even as a ban on unprocessed-ore exports by Indonesia stoked concerns over global supplies. Markets OverviewData as of 5:16pm ET
Wednesday&rsquo s Close:
No new records today: Dow drops 100 points Investors didn' t just hit the pause button Wednesday, they hit the reverse one.Backing away from three consecutive record closes, the Dow tumbled about 100 points on Wednesday The selling didn' t appear to be triggered by any specific new concerns, but it does represent a pause from the recent ascent. " Everybody is just taking a breather here. The market never goes straight up," said Randy Frederick, managing director of trading at Charles Schwab (SCHW, Fortune 500). The Dow, S& P 500 and Nasdaq all closed firmly in the red. The slide halted the Dow' s five-day winning streak. Inflation hawks may finally have something to crow about. The Labor Department said producer prices popped 0.6% in April, good for the biggest jump since September 2012. Economists had modeled for a softer increase of 0.2%. Investors will get to see whether or not producers passed those higher prices down to customers on Thursday when the government releases its consumer price index. Meanwhile, bond prices continue to defy expectations by rising. The 10-year Treasury yield, which moves opposite direction of the price, ticked down to 2.53% on Wednesday, touching the lowest level since late October. The lower bond yields should keep a lid on borrowing costs for consumers and businesses alike, but they also signal investor trepidation about stocks. Related: CNNMoney' s Tech30 down today European markets closed largely flat. Shares of GlaxoSmithKline (GLAXF) moved higher even after China charged a former executive with arranging a bribery scheme. Asian markets closed mixed.   |

Markets OverviewData as of 5:16pm ET
Tuesday&rsquo s Close:
Stocks hit new highs as S& P touches 1,900 Another day, another record for stock prices. The S& P 500 touched 1,900 for the first time ever on Tuesday, although the index closed just below that threshold, and the Nasdaq lost some ground. This marked the third consecutive record close for the Dow Jones industrial average (16,715) and S& P 500 (1,897), while the Nasdaq continues to underperform its peers this year amid a rotation away from momentum stocks, especially in tech. The S& P 500 has achieved recent milestones at a very fast pace. After first crossing over the 1,500 line in March 2000, it took the S& P 500 13 years to eclipse the 1,600 mark, according to S& P Dow Jones Indices. But the broad index then logged the next four round number milestones all in the past year. Related: CNNMoney' s Fear & Greed Index back to neutral There was very little volatility on Tuesday, as evidenced by the Dow' s extremely tight trading range of less than 40 points. The early enthusiasm in the market was muted a bit by an economic report that showed consumer spending slowed in April. Despite warmer weather in the spring, consumers didn' t open up their wallets as much as Wall Street hoped. U.S. retail sales inched up just 0.1% last month, trailing forecasts for a 0.4% rise. In response to the disappointing data, consumer discretionary stocks were among the weakest performers on Tuesday. European markets ended mostly higher after reports that Germany' s central bank supports additional stimulus measures from the European Central Bank. Germany' s Dax index advanced 0.5%. In Asia, India' s benchmark Mumbai Sensex index surged to a record high Tuesday after election exit polls indicated that voters will deliver a mandate to Narendra Modi and the pro-business Bharatiya Janata Party. Most other regional markets ended with gains. The Nikkei in Japan jumped by 2%.       |
