With many courier and freight forwarder sharing the same pie..Not much cake left for Singpost. Look at FedEx, DHL,Amazon , Q10, Lazada etc.. Big forwarder like DHL Express, Federal Express , Shoon Feng Express (SF Express) ,Amazon ,Alibaba all have their own Aircraft and self handled Singpost is relying on local mail and some very small portion of parcel transiting through Singapore to servive Not much meat left .

x 0   x 0  Alert Admin	I have been asking why Singpost cannot do something like collecting small parcels& letters back near our letter boxes, ie implement a small box near current letter boxes, use smart stamp/QR pay stamp, etc. As such, it really maximise the effort of coming to our letter boxes frequently or everyday, and we can post conveniently.

Logistics strength was offset by weaker Post and Parcel segment which went into the red.  ■       IPP recovery hampered by transient issues we think that SPOST requires more time to diversify away from DPP which faces significant headwinds. ■       We downgrade SPOST to Reduce with a lower TP of S$0.55, as we believe net profit will remain pressured until IPP shows stronger signs of recovery.      1QFY3/23F dragged by Post and Parcel segment While the profit guidance in Jul 22 had already signalled a tough operating environment for SPOST&rsquo s Post and Parcel business (which entered into an operating loss position during the quarter), SPost' s overall EBIT of S$10.6m in 1QFY3/23 (-47% yoy) still came in below expectations at 9% of both our and Bloomberg consensus&rsquo FY23F expectations.        Logistics segment was the sole bright spot Logistics strength led SPOST&rsquo s revenue to rise 35% yoy in 1Q, driven by both organic growth as well as consolidation of Freight Management Holdings (FMH). SPOST plans to further expand its reach in the Australian market and extract operational synergies across entities we forecast segment OP to rise 28.5% yoy to S$57m (58% of group) in FY23F.     Pushing back recovery expectations for IPP business International Post and Parcel (IPP) volumes fell 33% yoy in 1Q, impacted by 1) supply chain disruptions from China lockdowns, and 2) continued elevated air conveyance costs. We believe that IPP volumes should recover in the upcoming quarters given incremental air capacity improvement through Changi Airport and moderation of air conveyance costs towards the end of 1QFY23. However, the pace of recovery could be gradual in the near-term given continued strict Covid-related controls in China and weaker cross-border volumes YTD due to changes in the European Union&rsquo s VAT rules.   Domestic Post and Parcel (DPP) likely to remain challenged While strong growth in domestic e-commerce volumes have been able to successfully offset traditional letter mail declines in FY22F, we believe that this trend is difficult to repeat in FY23F (1QFY23: -26% yoy) given 1) deceleration in e-commerce growth with post-Covid normalisation, and 2) tougher competitive landscape for last mile e-commerce delivery with aggressive competitors and Shopee insourcing part of its logistics. Given the high fixed operating leverage nature of DPP, our FY22-24F EPS is lowered by 16.4-24.5% on the back of weaker volume assumptions.   Downgrade from Add to Reduce with a lower TP of S$0.55 We think SPOST&rsquo s net profit could remain dragged in the near-term until IPP shows stronger signs of recovery. Our TP of S$0.55 is based on 15.8x FY23F P/E (1 s.d. below 5-year historical average), lowered from 18.8x due to near term headwinds. De-rating catalysts include tougher competition in the last mile delivery space causing further DPP weakness. Upside risks include earnings-accretive M& A and easing Covid-19 restrictions in China or sharp decline in conveyance costs aiding stronger IPP volumes recovery.
